Watch: Fire Destroys Gay Bar in Fresno, California

Early Sunday morning a fire destroyed Fresno's bear and leather bar, The Den.

The Fresno Bee reports: "A fire early Sunday morning caused an estimated $130,000 in damage at a bar in southeast Fresno. Fresno Fire Department officials said crews arrived at The Den Bar... to find a fire on the exterior of the building along a wooden fence. Within minutes, the fire spread to the attic of the bar. The fire damaged a storage area and the bar's interior. The bar was closed, and a neighbor reported the fire. No one was hurt."

  1. I really loved the Den. It was Fresno's only escape from the materialist and gossip centered scene, offering a little more "beef" to our scene. I hope they rebuild bigger and better!

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- No one was inside The Den at 6 a.m. when the fire began. It started on the outside of the building and then spread through the attic.
Investigators say the cause of the fire is unknown.
The Den has had several different names over the last 40-years and managers say it is a real loss to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Dave Smith said, " place to hang out. Very enjoyable. Good atmosphere. It's going to be missed and a tough loss for lots of people."
Damage to the building is estimated at $130,000. The owners have not said if they plan to rebuild or relocate.
