Anti-Gay Hate Money Tied to Newt Gingrich Rises to $350,000

Last week it was reported that Newt Gingrich arranged $200,000 in seed money for anti-gay groups working to oust three pro-equality Supreme Court justices.

Gingrich That number has now risen, Think Progress reports:

The Associated Press revealed yesterday that one of the cogs in Gingrich’s vast network of business enterprises and front groups, ReAL Action, provided $125,000 to AFA Action. The Des Moines Register reported this morning that ReAL Action also contributed $25,000 to yet another Iowa anti-LGBT group, the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition.

The AFA, earlier this year, was officially designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Think Progress adds:

Gingrich’s tacit support for these radical views would not seem to be in question, as his spokesman went to great pains to explain that the grant to AFA Action was for “general support,” noting:

“We leave up to the groups receiving the money to determine how they would spend the money.

  1. He'll be the social conservatives choice for president, but this clown will never make it through the primaries. No candidate has a greater stench of hypocrisy than him.

  2. Newt is a hoot. It's amazing that true social conservatives still embrace him. They obviously have very short term memories, like most Americans, but they also believe whatever they are told as long as it suits their narrow-minded world view.

  4. Is that ALL? I would think a hypocrite like Newt could rake in SO much more from the anti-gay haters. Disappointed!
