Rep. Dove Hikind Invokes Lady Gaga During NY Assembly Marriage Equality Debate: VIDEO

Hikind

The New York Assembly passed marriage equality yesterday by a vote of 80-63

During a lengthy rant opposing the bill, Assemblyman Dov Hikind sarcastically invoked Lady Gaga, holding up a poster and saying that she almost convinced him.

“When Lady Gaga got involved and told us and said we should support gay marriage, I said, you know, Lady Gaga, she is an example of how I should lead my life and how I should behave.”

Hikind is an Orthodox Jew representing Brooklyn, added that "redefining marriage" is an affront to God: "The Torah’s so clear on this subject....There is no choice for me. And I am open-minded."

  1. Also, he's the definition of SANCTIMONIOUS SNAKE! It's ironic that he mocks Gaga as not being an example of how to live. She preaches love and equality while he preaches division and discrimination.

He needs to be taking NOTES from My Queen, not judging her (He's presumably judging her based on her appearance; how shallow. And I DON'T THINK THAT'S A GAME HE WANTS TO PLAY LOL)

  2. "And I am open-minded." Yeah. Truth is that Dov Hikind is one of the most vile bigots in this entire country.

Here are just a few facts about him, from his wikipedia page:

He has urged the NYPD to racially profile those who appear to be Arab or Muslim.

He was a follower of the late Rabbi Meir Kahane's Jewish Defense League, which has been identified as "a right wing terrorist group" by the FBI.

He has supported the development of settlements by Israelis in violation of international law.

He has consistently blocked funding for renovation of the U.N., contending that the U.N. is anti-Israel because apparently once the U.S. was unable to block a resolution suggesting that perhaps some part of the blame for the violence in Israel and Palestine belongs with the Israelis.

Even before any court appearances had occurred, he reflexively defended a group of Orthodox Jewish teens who used brass knuckles in a hate crime assault against a young Pakistani man in Brooklyn.

He supported banning non-Jewish victims from being mentioned in a Holocaust memorial being built in Brooklyn.

And of course this is what he's said about marriage equality: “If we authorize gay marriage in the state of New York, those who want to live and love incestuously will be five steps closer to achieving their goals as well.”

    Dov Hikind, open-minded!
