Pat Robertson: Hollywood Forcing Straight Actors to Play Gay Roles
On the 700 Club, Pat Robertson speaks to conservative writer Ben Shapiro about his new book, which accuses gays of "brainwashing Hollywood," Right Wing Watch reports.
Says a confounded Robertson: “...the American people overwhelmingly vote for traditional marriage between a man and a woman, what is it with Hollywood, I mean they are inserting gays one after another, as a matter of fact straight actors are being forced to play gay roles.”

Hmm. I guess the straight actors are not getting paid to play gay roles if they are being "forced" as the "reverend" says. And of course, one should always believe this reverend because everyone knows he calls himself a "man of god."

Gay actors are forced to play str8 roles too, though having a job often involves doing things one would not like. Alas, Pat's son will take over when he's gone.

Pat Robertson is one of the so-called "prosperity gospel" preachers, which, in a nutshell, says that if you're rich, you have God's favor. The flipside to that is, of course, if you're poor, you've done something wrong to lose God's favor.
According to that belief, Hollywood actors are blessed beyond all belief by God. If what Ben Shapiro says is true, "If you're anti-gay marriage in Hollywood, you will not get a job, it's that simple," is true, then, logically following, God wants actors to be pro-gay marriage and actively punishes them if they are anti-gay marriage.
I know, I know...I'm trying to draw a logical conclusion from an inherently illogical set of beliefs. But it's fun to point out one after another of the flaws in what they supposedly believe in.

Hollywood forcing straight actors to play gay roles? I know the lives of actors are very private, but I have yet to read in any sensation magazine or hear from other media any stories of nooses being tied around the necks of straight actors or them being held at gunpoint!
Ok, that was a little over the top. Point is, straight actors have choices about which roles to take and they seem to be very comfortable taking on gay roles. They sure as hell aren't hurting for money the way average people are so you can't say they're being "forced" into these roles for economic reasons.
What scares the hell out of Pat Robertson and his bigoted ilk is not so much Hollywood. Rather, it's the fact that straight actors don't share his homophobia and bigotry. But you know what scares him even more? (.... drum rolls please....) the fact that the public viewing these gay role movies does not share his homophobia. (that's gotta hurt Pat Robertson worse than a thousand knives in his body)

to Wyocwboy82. It's common knowledge that there is a fine line between an effeminate homosexual and a pale white christian. Baylor is proof of that as well. Am certainly not disparaging anyone effeminate btw, either. It's just that it speaks to what you and others clearly see in Robertson and thou-doust-protest-too-much students from Liberty, Baylor, etc. who hide behind their bible.

I remember when Falwell passed the good people on Castro put up a tombstone emblazoned with his name and laid down some astro turf. They then proceeded to charge people $5 for the opportunity to dance on his grave. I for one will purchase an airline ticket from Dallas to SFO for the opportunity to do the same for this guy.
