Pat Robertson Says God Will Destroy America Over Same-Sex Marriage: VIDEO

Following a segment on the New York marriage equality vote, Pat Robertson warned that America is becoming Sodom and will suffer the same fate of destruction, Right Wing Watch reports.

Says robertson: "In history, there has never been a civilization that has embraced homosexuality and turned away from traditional fidelity, traditional marriage, traditional child-rearing and has survived. There isn't one single civilization that has survived...So you say, 'what’s going to happen to America?' If history is any guide, the same thing is going to happen to us."

  2. Why is it that god keeps smiting the Bible Belt then, and not Sodom & Gomorrah (by which I mean NY and CA, of course)?

  6. Pat Robertson-Senile-Republican-Baptist-Hater-Hypocrite and Money Grabber....Didn't Jesus chase the money changers out of the temple....but I don't recall a word in the new Testament about Homosexuals, does anyone else?

  7. Amazingly, Pat's comment is actually a MASSIVE insult to the African American community.

Pat is saying this: "God will destroy America because America is accepting gays, but God was totally fine with you people being abused, raped, murdered, kept as slaves and then forced to live in Segregation"

  9. We don't need Pat's spooky deity to destroy America: the GOP's already got the corner on it.

  12. @Little Kiwi, that's right.
One was enough to save the place. Could this one mean Jesus? What if it is symbolic?
PR should study a real history and the Bible studies.

  13. Funny, God told me he would destroy Pat Robertson for his idiocy. And I bet Pat goes before the USA does!

  14. What is Traditional Marriage?

Marriage where women are considered property?
Marriage with multiple wives and concubines?
    Marriage to avoid fortification?
    Marriage for procreation only?
Marriage where the only reason for divorce is adultery?
    Marriage outside the same faith?
    Marriage outside the same race?

All these were deeply held biases within the church. The Church changed its definition of marriage for all these situations. We have changed our minds, and our laws, for the better.

The acceptance of gay marriage is not the end of “traditional” marriage.
It is the recognition of what God has wanted from the beginning, Genesis 2:18 “It is not good for man to be alone.”

It must and will change again, because we are moving toward God’s vision for us, not against it. Translations and misintreptations conceal the original meaning of the Bible, but God’s law will prevail over time, because it is His will.

Just as the New Testament does not specifically condemn the institution of slavery, it clearly teaches that violence and oppression are wrong. Abusive masters are held accountable to God. In a similar manner, Jesus does not specifically condemn homosexuals or gay marriage. He clearly gives the commandment to love one another and leaves those who judge to be judged. The Bible must be taken as a whole, and not an isolated verse or two.

  18. The collapse of the Roman Empire coincided with the Empires' adoption of Christianity as its state religion. There is also a 100% correlation between where it rains and where the sun shines; I therefore conclude that rain causes the sun to shine.

  19. I’m not worried about the decision in New York because I believe our battle, as Christians, is not in the courtroom – and it never was. I believe same sex marriage should be legal with as much conviction as I believe homosexuality is a sinful disobedience of God’s order for our lives. The fact that another same sex marriage bill was passed is only a symptom of a greater failure by the church to inspire a nation to trust, follow, and obey God. We should be fighting, with love, for the hearts of sinners – not for courtroom trump cards. Forcing agendas through legal action was never Christ’s method of winning souls and it shouldn’t be ours either.

  23. I disagree with those of you who don't want this stuff repeated or shared. It's not saying that it's the only view out there, but you have to know what those who wish to oppress you and the generations to come are saying. I too am bored of the same old twisted arguments that have no foundation in truth, but sadly there are huge amounts of people out there, some with power, who still listen and believe them. And if we stop listening, how can we ever defend ourselves if need be?
