I would love to hear what that member of her family (who would be a part of Satan according to her logic, which actually, then, says so much) has to say about this traveling side show of a presidential campaign.

  2. luminum says

Well, that seems to be the nail in the coffin about her son Harrison. I guess it’s true.

    Poor kid…

My parents tried and failed, but at least they settled into reluctant acceptance.

  3. Francis says

Disgusting human being. At least her crazy is being exposed, and it brings into the spotlight the serious issue of ex-gay therapy and homophobia in general, so the masses truly see the extent of the hatred some people who call themselves “Christian” profess towards LGBT citizens.

  4. MikeBoston says

I think she just outed her husband.

In any case, she can just keep talking as far as I am concerned. She is so far out there that the moderate republicans will walk all over her.

I also happened to believe she needs help – lots and lots of help.

  5. will says

It’s clear that she’s not trying to bash gays (in her own mind). For her, this is honesty and compassion and part of God’s message. In her own mind, she is being charitable and good-hearted. I don’t get “hate” coming from her at all here. She sincerely believes that the gay lifestyle is a dysfunction and contrary to the Bible. She feels she’s helping.

That’s what makes this so frustrating. There are many (the conservative base — maybe 15-20% of the country) that feels this way.

This will sound odd. First, I am totally gay. But I found a bit of compassion for Bachmann here. It’s her idea of humanitarianism and mercy. I hear it in her voice. I just hope over the next few years she has the capacity to change her views (as most of the country has been doing the past 30 years).

  6. says

Her half-sister is an out lesbian. Not only will Michelle not speak to her she likes to pretend she doesn’t even exist.

Haven’t heard about her son Harrison. But she has so many adopted children it’s clkear that soke of them are gay.

Don’t worry, Mel Smith — she will NEVER become President.

  7. LiamB says

Will, she will never change her views on gays. She allows her opinion to be formed from a mythological entity’s pronouncements as written by desert wandering savages. She ignores facts in favor of her fantasy world. That is not the way of a person capable of changing. Look at her and her husband’s stories about why they married; not from choice or love, but because God literally appeared to them and said to do so. She is seriously unstable.

  8. Too right says

This creepy woman is the gift that keeps on giving. I’m sure she’ll have some pull with the looney tunes on the far right, but she’s already sacrificed any real chance she would have to be considered seriously as a candidate. Our job is keep her negatives up, and show her for the fringe, half-baked candidate she is.

  9. Talisman says

“Profound” must have been the word-of-the-day on her calendar.

She is obsessed with gay people. Please, Michelle, just STFU and stick your compassion where Marcus refuses to visit.

  10. throne says

OK I don’t like this woman, but COME ON!

She said it’s satanic, aka WRONG, to call homosexuals ‘gay,’ because she thinks that we’re miserable in our supposed ‘dysfunction.’

She did NOT claim we are ‘Part of Satan.’

  11. equality now says

The sad and scary aspect of Bachmann is that she does represent the voters — illogical and backward. And in the USA with our primary system amplifying the voices of the ignorant this is what we get running for high gov’t office. That’s the sad part, that’s the devil in the details.

We really really need a third party as soon as possible. The Republicans are simply an anti-Obama movement as though politics were a football game. They have no substance yet they persist. The two party system fosters antagonism and opposition. A third party would require cooperation among at least two of them to get anything done.

  12. CPT_Doom says

Ms. Amble – I don’t recognize her “marriage” to the quack as valid – is correct, though. The legal recognition of same-sex couples does have a profound impact on society – it is the exact same impact that Ms. Amble’s brand of heresy has had. No matter how immoral any other “Christian” thinks Ms. Amble is for her lifestyle choice, they still have to accept her right to embrace Satan through the pseudo-Christian cult into which she has been entrapped.

We need to have compassion for Ms. Amble, because she has been led astray by the Father of all Lies – Satan himself, and it is Satan’s voice she hears telling her to run for President.

See, nutjob religious bigotry can work both ways.

  13. Mark says

    DAVID

She will NEVER become president? What makes you such an authority? Remember Sharon Angle? Oh that’s right, she was just the flavor of the month. Now everyone’s forgotten about her cause she lost the senate race to Harry Reid last November. Just when you thought republicans couldn’t get any crazier, along came Sharron Angle, dumber than a pack of hammers. Guess what? She won the nomination to run against Harry Reid. Yes, she lost the race, but not without getting 45% of the vote on election day.

People like Michelle Bachmann can not only get the nomination but also come dangerously close to getting elected, if not actually elected. Never underestimate the stupidity of this public (it did elect George Bush in 2004, am I wrong?)

What makes people like Sara Palin and Michelle Bachmann appealing candidates is that the bar for them is sooo low. Unlike her opponent, Michelle Bachmann doesn’t have to worry about what comes out of her mouth. All she has to do is look cute in front of the camera and she’ll have the white heterosexual men voting for her in a heart beat.

Deciding who to vote for president should be a rational decision but sadly it’s not (in this country at least). Most people vote for the guy/gal they’re most likely to hang out with. This reminds me of the white guy stopped at an intersection who is angry because another guy took his right of way. If instead it had been a nice looking lady doing the same thing, the guy wouldn’t be so sullen. In fact, he’d probably smile and motion for her to go ahead.

  14. Brad says

To those who saying she will never become President and those hoping she gets the Republican nomination for the entertainment value: this is the same nation that elected Bush. Twice! Be careful what you wish for.

  15. warmsun says

I’m the leftiest of lefties but I gotta agree with WILL and THRONE on this one. No matter how batshit crazy this woman is, I don’t think that she was intentionally bathing us in this clip. Not, at least if you consider real hate-mongers such as Robertson, Dobson, Santorum and the like. I just don’t see it. Of course, what’s scary about her is that she really is a true-believer and that kind of Jim Jones fanaticism just can’t listen to reason or have their minds changed.

  16. Erick says

Wow she is not bashing people that are gay. Really? When does she consider it bashing? Do they have to kill us for it to be bashing? What also bothers me is she talks like she is a Christian, if so when did they become all about hate? Remember do unto others as you would have done to you and love they neighbor as thyself. I say if what you are doing conflicts with either one of these then you need to really think about what you are doing.
I also get so tried of the only reason that can be given by people like her for saying that same sex marriage will destroy our country is their religious beliefs. Well I have solved it then, we will just make Civil Unions legal in every State between two people. You have to have a Civil Union to get any tax breaks be it state or federal or to have your relationship be legal. You can have your religious marriage but that will be all it is, a religious ceremony that is not legal and you will have to go get a Civil Union to get any of the state or federal benefits.
I guess she forgot that everyone is free and that because she has one faith does not mean I have the same one. This woman really is the most frightening thing I have seen and to think people will listen to her.

  17. S Ring says

Word in the Twin Cities has always been that Marcus Bachmann is on the “down low” according to college and high school classmates. This contradicts his running a clinic to “change” gays into heterosexuals or maybe he is just teaching them to live on the “down low”. The lifestyles are not the issue. The issue is politicians saying one thing and in reality doing something quite different. The problem is not sexual orientation, the problem is a lack of truth.

  18. arch says

I suppose one should expect a few of Mr. – sorry, “Dr.” Bachmann’s ex-partners and rent boys to come tumbling out of the woodwork over the next few weeks: BRING IT ON…

  19. RJP3 says

She is saying to use the word Gay for Homosexual “is part of Satan” – meaning misleading.

(Having a Southern Baptist side of the family helps when trying to decode this self-righteous language.)

That said it is VERY DAMNING and DANGEROUS to even utter that belief — calling ourselves Gay – meaning happy (or Good As You) is far from Satanic.

She however is just common evil.

  20. Patric says

For some reason you left out a part of her statement that day which is at least as troubling: “It’s profoundly sad to recognize that almost all, if not all, individuals who have gone into the lifestyle have been abused at one time in their life, either by a male or by a female.” She needs to be asked in interviews whether she really believes that (though I am one of those here who hopes that Republicans are dumb enough to nominate her; pledge or no pledge, she is no more dangerous than Mitt Romney because there is nothing she could realistically accomplish as President that he wouldn’t also be willing to do and he has a much better shot of being elected).

  21. says

it won’t stop the wimps of GOProud and other GOP-apologist homosexuals from voting for her.

women with Bachmann’s ideologies appeal to Gay Conservatives because they remind them of their mothers, who dont’ actually love them.

  22. Angelinolla says

I am a straight lady (old and married) BUT I have made my living in the arts so I have often been the “token straight” at social gatherings. I believe humans-are-human and that’s where the similarity ends. We are a huge group of INDIVIDUALS and no two alike. I love people and find most of those individuals I have met with at least a few interesting if not lovable characteristics.

Will, Throne and Warmsun are really hearing what the woman said and how she said it. I’m a Christian heavy duty and I don’t recognize–and big time in the case of Ms. Bachmann–what is preached by the Religious Far Right as having much, if any, relationship to what the bible says Jesus taught. He had two rules: “Love God with everything you have and are, and love your neighbor as yourself.” He also mentioned something about judging not so that you will escape being judged by the same standard.

So, all that said? Ms. Bachmann scares me witless and I hope–and pray–that she won’t become the GOP candidate, and if she does, that the sane people of this country will rise up and vote against her, because no matter who her opponent would be, I can’t imagine that person could possibly be worse.

  23. cb says

Michele Bachmann and her husband are both very far out. Not good for the U.S. She is running on her own “gay agenda” platform. We are closing schools, laying people off. Family’s are being foreclosed on and being put out in the streets. And all this Republican running for President and her husband can do is talk about is “praying away the gay”. It is a good money maker for her, but we have bigger things to do, and I am hopping God has to. If you or your church has the gay agenda on your mind, all the time you may need to set down and talk with someone. We need to start looking at what is best for the country. Not our own religion’s views, that blow in the wind.

  24. Willie T Boned says

    CB –

The thing I do not think you might be able to see is that there are MILLIONS of Americans who WANT to believe GAY PEOPLE are to be the cause of closing schools, laying people off. Family’s are being foreclosed on and being put out in the streets…. because we threaten their deeply held belief of Straight Supremacy.

Millions of Straight Supremacy lunatics can be blamed Gays for losing “God’s Blessing” when she implies even calling us Gay (the name we have chosen for ourselves) is “part of Satan”.

    Total disrespect.

Especially when their political and religious leaders blame a minority group as a cover for their corruption.

    Once it was the Jews.
    Then black Americans.
    Now Gay People.

Same as it ever was …. and to make the willing bigots vote for the PARTY …. they support people like this woman We are closing schools, laying people off. Family’s are being foreclosed on and being put out in the streets

  25. Peter says

People like her are the reason why there is so much hatred and war in this world. I feel sorry for her. It must be a pretty sad life when you walk around with so much hatred. It’s always so very funny. All these religious people only follow “some”parts of the bible but not all. The bible also states love your enemy and leave jugdement to God himself. Yet you see them all judging and calling gay people names. Funny thing also is that the same bible text referring to gays also says that people that practice non marital sex are also condemned to death. So how is it that people always point out what they think is right and forget about the rest? That would mean that 99% of mankind will be condemned to death, as I don’t know anyone who does not have non-marital sex or had it before they got married. Wake up, stop mixing politics with religion. That is the beginning of all evil…
