Wingnuts Play Victim Card at DOMA Hearing; Sen. Grassley Portrays Equality Seekers as Violent Mob: VIDEO

Grassley

At the beginning of today's hearing on DOMA repeal, Senator Chuck Grassley suggested that the GOP had wanted to call a female witness (Maggie Gallager, perhaps?) but that she was too frightened to testify, Think Progress reports:

GRASSLEY: The minority very much hoped to call a witness today at this hearing to testify in support of DOMA, I’m sure she would have done an excellent job.She declined, however, citing one reason the threats and intimidation that have been leveled not only her but her friends and family as a result of her support of DOMA. She will continue to write on the issue but will no longer speak publicly.

  1. @Anon, that is a lie that Hillary Clinton used in her Presidential campaign.

The FMA was not on the table when President Clinton signed DOMA, it wasn't even a concept. If anything, passing DOMA emboldened the Republicans to take their bigotry even further.

Besides, you don't appease bigots at the start of their attempts to destroy Americans through bigotry as a strategy of stopping their bigotry. That makes no sense whatsoever.

What you claim simply did not happen, although the Clintons -- neither of whom support marriage equality to this day, even though their own marriage is a sham -- want you to believe it did.

Always easier to spew hate when you’re hiding under a rock...

  3. So this fantasy person either doesn't exist or is a pussy. If you really believe in something then step forward and present your case.

  4. She's so terrified of threats and intimidation that she'll continue to publish on the subject under her own name. Makes sense.

  5. Who is going to mention FRC and NOM's most significant financial supporter, the Knights of Columbus, which is to say the Catholic Church? Where is the indignation at the intrusion of organized religion into government? Especially THAT organized religion...they should be sued under the RICO statutes based on their pedophilia and other crimes against humanity.

  6. The only threat to any witness to these senate hearings is the threat of being exposed as a liar. Oh -- and perhaps the threat of being prosecuted for perjury.

This wouldn't be the first time that Maggie refused to testify under oath.
