Michele Bachmann Says Earthquake, Hurricane are God's Punishment to Politicians in Washington: VIDEO

At campaign stops in Florida, Michele Bachmann said that the recent east coast earthquake and Hurricane Irene are God's punishment to politicians in Washington who aren't listening.

Said Bachmann in Sarasota:

"I don't know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We've had an earthquake; we've had a hurricane. He said, 'Are you going to start listening to me here?' Listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we've got to rein in the spending."

At another stop in Orlando, Bachmann said:

Washington D.C., you'd think by now they'd get the message. An earthquake. A hurricane. Are you listening? The American people have done everything they can. Now it's time for an act of God and we're getting it. (clip)

  1. God is sending a message to the liberal Northeast Corridor by sending a small earthquake that didn't do much damage and hurt nobody, and a hurricane that caused the plurality of damage and deaths in the "red" states and just dumped a lot of rain on the heathen states?

What message is he trying to send by covering all the mid-west states in a crippling drought?

  2. I think it would be much more effective, if instead of hurricanes and earthquakes. God actually SPOKE! You know..using real words and without the support of a public address system. I bet, being the all powerful entity that he is...he could do that. Couldn't he, Michele??

  3. I wish she would stop jumping around and stand still so God could get a good shot at her.

  4. Bachman is not doing herself any favors with this "I know god" banter...

  6. In no way would I ever vote for MB, but the remarks were made as a joke and everyone laughed. Please don't be like the weather department and hype a story that doesn't exist. I expect better from this blog.

  7. I just put my ear up to Michelle Bachmann's and I heard the ocean.

  8. Michele, thanks for that clarification. Now, I was wondering about that typhoon that hit Taiwan yesterday, can you tell us what God was thinking there and why he sent a destructive typhoon to Taiwan?? I have some Chinese friends who are curious to know how they can prevent typhoons in the future by appeasing your God.
    Thanks for your help.

  9. Here's just how STUPID she is: she says that God has sent hurricanes and earthquakes to awaken politicians in DC that there's too much spending. Will someone please inform the 'Queen of Dunces' that earthquakes and hurricanes often cause billions in damage, which in turn require even MORE spending?

  10. Because 22 people dead in the hurricane is funny? She should be a stand up comedian.

  11. "A humorous way"? I am not laughing.

  12. Does this silly cow realize that SHE IS A POLITICIAN? As a matter of fact, she is a politician in Washington, DC. She has been for 5 years.

So just who exactly is gwad warning?

  13. Earthquakes don't just happen... no, wait, yes they do! And June through November is called "Atlantic Hurricane Season" why?

If god wanted to send a message wouldn't s/he just tweet it?

  14. It was a 'joke', eh? Well just imagine how the Reps would react if Obama 'joked' about a natural disaster like that.

This dizzy amoeba-brained fool disgusts me. Next thing you know she'll be telling us to go out and throw rocks at the moon. Cavepeople like her need to find someplace to call their own -- the US isn't it.

  15. Since Michele Bachmann herself is a part of the Washington establishment, a perfect message from god would be her getting struck down by lightning.

  16. Mr. or Ms. "Name" this is not a rhetorical question: Do you think the families of the 24 people killed during Irene are laughing at Ms. Bachman's joke ?

  17. She's so stupid - everybody knows God doesn't control the weather...Mother Nature does!

  18. I am so happy that MB finally nailed her own coffin shut. That remark will haunt her to the very last day of her soon to be failed candidacy. Whether or not she said the remark "in a joking way", it is clear that she actually believes what she is saying. That remark cements her character as being that of a religious nut case who believes, in all sincerity, that she has exclusive knowledge about the mind of God. Dear Michele, those voices in your head are not God...

  19. Bible 101: Basic Reading Comprehension:

"I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” (Gen 9:11)

Is reading comprehension so difficult for Bacchman?

  20. If Ms. Bachmann wants to play the 'god is sending a message game.' Consider on Sunday in Madrid last week 'god' unexpectedly interrupted the 'Pope' during an anti-gay homily, then there was an earthquake in Colorado (Home of FotF founders of the FRC) in the morning, and an earthquake in Virginia (Home of Pat Robertson's and Jerry Falwell's anti-gay organizations)in the afternoon, finally a hurricane, whose strongest mainline target was North Carolina (where the Republicans are trying write 'Anti-gay Discrimination' in their Constitution.) God is sending a message, just not the one she thinks.

  21. This woman is an even bigger idiot than Sarah Palin. Please, God, let the GOP nominate her for president.

    Posted by: Jay | Aug 29, 2011 12:25:54 PM

  22. She's too dumb to realize that intelligent people recognize her as the the republican dummy (with the brain of a dummy) she is.

Posted by: Roman Bolliger | Aug 29, 2011 12:39:29 PM

  23. Uh....so why would I vote for her to become president if she's current politician in Washington?

  24. Actually, we didn't get the worst of it here in DC So stfu.
