Road UPDATE ON DAKOTA ARY: Commenter Ambrose says he spoke to the teacher accused of censoring a Texas student for an anti-gay remark: "Met with the teacher Friday night. His story, which he is not yet allowed to share with the media, is quite different, and lays a solid basis for believing that Ary's comments were directed ad hominem, and a continuation of a history of harassing comments made toward this teacher on the basis of Ary and 3 other students' perception that the teacher is gay." 1. In regards to the story about Andrew Marin holding meetings for Christians in gay bars, I wouldn't necessarily call Marin an activist. There have been numerous critics on him from both the LGBT community and the christian community on the grounds that he talks out both sides of his mouth, has overstated or fabricated the story about how he became aware of LGBT issues, and that he fails to clearly ever state his positions. Having listened to podcasts where Marin is speaking to a christian audience, I have to hold back on saying he is an ally to the community. He plays up stereotypes and coddles christian biases quite a bit in his speaking.

  2. Lord have mercy. Love nude beaches. Love being clothing-free at home. But object and protest because it is suggested that you put a towel between you and your potential snail-trail when you sit down in public, like in a restaurant for crissakes? Thanks, SF, for showing how the extremes of the left are just as batsh*t cray-cray as those on the right.

  4. Unify against the Catholic Church. Drive Catholicism out of America today. The largest hate group in the United States today is the Catholic Church.

  7. The pope has so much blood on his hands, especially when it comes to Africa and the rise of hatred and laws against gays and the anti condom rhetoric in Africa. I hope more Catholics will start standing up against relic.

On a lighter note, here's Adam and his mom's acceptance speech from PFLAG. If only all parents of gay kids were this cool. An interesting explanation from Adam about how his views of being a gay celebrity have changed.

  10. As regards the bullying post, I agree with the linked article on some accounts.

Simplifying bullying as the only cause of suicide is kinda harmful, speaking from experience here... It is not JUST bullying that causes suicide. People should somehow emphasize the different factors that cause someone to take their life.

Also, again speaking from my own experience, all the media exposure on gay bullying isn't really helpful either, at least in the way it is being presented now. I don't know the specifics of why it's not helpful, but all I know is that it is not helpful.

I don't think Lady Gaga is that harmful right now, but she should emphasize some of the other points explained in the article, even though some of them are kinda unattainable... although Lady Gaga could avoid details like suggested.
