Arizona Streaker Charged with Felony, May Get Year and a Half of Jail

Jake Lancow, the Arizona streaker who posed as a referee is being made an example:

Jace Lankow, an undergraduate at the University of Arizona could face up to one and half years in jail after being charged with a class six felony for criminal impersonation.

“The Conference is extremely disappointed in the actions of the student-athletes involved in this incident,” Commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement. “It is unacceptable behavior and violated Conference rules, as well as NCAA fighting rules.

“I have taken these actions today because it is imperative that we hold our student-athletes and coaches to the highest standards of sportsmanship.”

Lancow's underwear-clad dash across the field inspired a brawl between players which resutlred in 10 suspensions.

A year and a half? This country has come seriously unhinged. Impersonating a police officer and committing a crime, of course, but a referee?? [Side note: don’t you have to be nude to be a streaker?]

A year and a half for playing a childish prank??….while all the crooked CEO’s and politicians get off scott free. The justice system in this country is becoming a joke.

A year and a half? This is the kind of “offense” that a reasonable person would think merited doing some community service at the university. This country is going to hell.

In Arizona they have for profit prisons. Part of the corporate welfare system in the USA. Longer prison sentences mean big bucks for CEOs and more campaign donations for politicians, all at taxpayer expense. This is how American Capitalism works these days.

  5. Mike in the Tundra says

Also, Arizona uses prisoners as workers (slaves). They have made their immigration laws so strict, that’s the only way to get cheap labor for menial jobs.

However, great ass. Really great ass.

Agreed, Jesrad. In my day, you weren’t streaking unless you were totally naked. And in his case, it was a shame that his fine bod wasn’t showcased in kind.

Maybe he was sentenced so long because the cops were mad he wasn’t naked. Just sayin’.

College athletics is all about profits, and the profit motive discourages playfulness. I’m sure the old Soviet athletic machine would have considered this sentence waay too light for somebody daring to mock the sacredness of Sport. as Holden Caulfield pinned it, “the athletic bastards always stick together”.

He won’t get anything except maybe a fine.
    A) He’s in his U/W so it doesn’t even count as indecent exposure in the state of Arizona so to even call this streaking is a bit overboard.
    B) The official is a sports official not anyone of any safety or legislative capacity so that’s gonna fly out the window too.

The only real offense was the ‘over charges’ made by police in order to make it look more salacious than it is.

THOSE LEGS AND THAT HOT ASS! He should get a slap on the wrist… err, ass for this. This country needs the humor, it’s just “football” for Chrsitmas sakes, and it’s college. That’s a part of the college experience, so they need to lighten the f up!

I look forward to seeing it as a Halloween costume at teh WeHo Carnival this year!

  10. anon says

He needs a good lawyer to plead this down to a misdemeanor. Anyway, felony impersonation normally requires criminal intent, but of course they’ve been chipping away at that for years. Of course, without criminal intent you’d be outlawing Halloween! They’ll say discretionary prosecution will fix that. Sure…

Jeeze… They should be thanking him for somehow passing on some good streaker karma for a hapless and dismal Arizona team beating the snot out of UCLA (which apparently is even more hapless and dismal).

  12. blue adidas says

So is he supposedly responsible for a bunch of ape football players getting into a brawl? The streaker is the exact kind of mischievous stuff that people enjoy at college football games. It certainly was more enjoyable than the game. Being expelled would even be too harsh for this type of thing. Since when has college gotten so damn uptight and un-fun?

    “JESRAD” (24 OCTOBER 2011; 8:46:05 AM),
YOU ARE THINKING LIKE I AM; I THOUGHT, Jace Lankow, WAS GOING TO BE NAKED. PEOPLE HAVE BECOME SO UPTIGHT ABOUT NUDITY; NOW, PUBLIC-UNDERWEAR DISPLAY IS CONSIDERED STREAKING? STRANGE. Colin J. Grundstrom [OF, Busch Stadium FAME] IS “THE MAN” – HE KNOWS THE PROPER WAY TO STREAK.
