The 16-Foot Burmese Python That Ate a 76 LB Deer in Florida: PHOTO

Python

One more reason not to hike alone through the Everglades (or to release or keep exotic animals, as we saw in Zanesville, Ohio last week, in places they shouldn't be).

MSNBC reports: "(Scott Hardin, exotic species coordinator for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission) said the python had recently consumed a 76-pound female deer that had died. He said it was an important capture to help stop the spread of pythons further north. The python was killed with a shotgun blast."

  5. Its actually a really big problem in Florida. They are breeding like crazy. Don't feel bad. My solution it to start humanely killing them and turning them in things like suitcases, boots and bags. Animal control involes killing sometimes.

  6. The real idiots are the people bringing these things in as pets and then releasing them. If a python can swallow a deer can also swallow someone's pet or child (or both).

  7. They can't survive much further north because they can't hibernate in the winter. I'm sure pet pythons have been released all over the country.
