Mitt Romney Promises to Defend DOMA and Man-Woman Marriage: VIDEO

This morning at a campaign stop in South Carolina, Mitt Romney received a hearty round of applause and a "yeah" from somebody in the audience for promising to defend DOMA and "marriage between a man and a woman".

Notes Think Progress LGBT: "After initially claiming that the issue of marriage should be left to the states, Romney now supports a federal constitutional amendment outlawing same-sex marriage and would adopt a three-tier marriage system for gay couples."

  1. F@#$ you MItt Romney. I really hope the people in the U.S. are not stupid enough to vote for someone who has 200 million dollars and loves to fire people.. However I am sure Salt Lake City is just drooling to have a Mormon President.... If you have to use peoples hatred and fear of Gay people to get elected that is just so sad.

  2. Where are the commenters that always show up to tell us that there is no difference between Obama's stance on same-sex marriage and [insert Republican name here]'s stance on same-sex marriage?

    Well? I'm waiting...

  3. Mitt's slogan should be Equality is a myth.
Religion is hate disguised as love.

  4. maybe Mitt asnd Santorum should: Take that Certified Homophobic test created in a lab by a REAL Dr/researcher...the one where the subject (rick and mittens) who says they're NOT Homophobic, wear a Penile electrode around his Penis, and is forced to watch Gay Porn.....so IF Rick & Mitt get an Erection watching these porns (it doesn't LIE)..... what say you...?

  5. And let's not forget, many gay oxyoronic republicans will rally around and vote for this asshat, voting against themselves. SICK!

  6. This was announced on program called 'Think Progress'? Is someone having a laugh here or does America want a moron as President? This guy is just as prejudiced as the rest of the GOP, and the party should be sent packing in November in Goldwater style.

  7. Today our law firm decided to front the court costs up to 80% for a gay couple to receive heterosexual marriage rights under immigration laws...I was very happy and upbeat about it thinking that times were truly changing.

    This...this ruined it.

  8. States Rights...except when it runs counter to my rabidly insane voter base who think I'm not conservative enough... And then it's Federal Authority baby!!!

Meanwhile, any seventh grader in the country (well, any seventh grader who doesn't attend one of the legion of schools that Gingrich seems to think are out there) knows that Separate But Equal is a) a myth and b) unconstitutional. Soooo... have fun running on your 3-tiered system!!!!

This is the effen problem with the Republican Party of morons. Four years ago I kept saying...jeesh, I hope McCain wins the nomination - I disagree with almost every policy that Republicans stand for but if my vote doesn't end up electing the guy I want, I want the guy I can live with. But then, the man went Ba t$h it INSANE running after his freakin' crazy, inbred base - and giving us 4 years of non-stop Palin (she could have just remained a nobody but no!).

Romney is an and has been an ass of extraordinary lengths...but...he used to be...somewhat...reasonable. The man is now clinically insane. We are stuck with a 3-way choice in the Republican party between a) a man who has more ego than he has body (and that's saying a hell of a lot) who thinks he can re-write history to appeal to his lunatic fringe and b) a man who I think at least has principles even though I think he truly wants to infuse government with religious doctrine and c) a man who has no moral compass but may be able to be swayed back towards reason once the election is over (but he has made so many extreme policies, i doubt he will be able to).

  9. ...says the man whose state he governed became one of the first states to legalize same sex marriage.

You can't make this stuff up, folks!

  10. Those who say there is no difference between Obama and the GOP candidates position on same sex marriage likely are gay Republicans themselves and are grasping at straws to justify their reasoning for the way they vote.

Let's see how they spin this one.

  11. RYANINSACTO and NY2.0, I was coming in here to make the same sentiments. Let's hear our Log Cabin commenters justify this.
