Last night, American Public Television's excellent program In the Life began airing "Becoming Me", an insightful and sensitive look at eight families with transgender and gender nonconforming children ranging in ages from 5 to 25 and the development of their kids across those age groups.

    I always feel an extra sense of protectiveness for young gender non-conforming kids.

    They have to be ready for a fight, every day.

  4. Sadly, there are many in our community that expect African Americans to identify with our movement, but don't see the hypocrisy when they want to throw our transgendered brothers and sisters under the bus in our fight for equality.

  5. Yes, incredibly intelligent and brave parents who are developing incredibly intelligent and brave children.

    And, yes, the two teenage transgender feminine boys who had no intention of having sex re-assignment (or corrective) surgery can call themselves Gay if they choose. No one should tell them that they are not. There are many Gay people who are also transgender...always have been.
