North Carolina Pastor Sean Harris Urges Parents to 'Punch' Their 'Girlish' Sons, Crack Their Limp Wrists: AUDIO

Jeremy Hooper at Good as You has posted some extremely disturbing audio identified as Sean Harris, the Senior Pastor of Berean Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC, giving his congregation a "special dispensation" to beat their children if they think they might be falling outside of gender norms.

Seean_harrisHarris also urged his congregation to vote for North Carolina's Amendment One in an hourlong sermon posted on Sunday.

Listen to all the audio, AFTER THE JUMP...

Says Harris at the beginning of his horrifying rant (thanks to Jeremy for the transcript):

"So your little son starts to act a little girlish when he is four years old and instead of squashing that like a cockroach and saying, 'Man up, son, get that dress off you and get outside and dig a ditch, because that is what boys do,' you get out the camera and you start taking pictures of Johnny acting like a female and then you upload it to YouTube and everybody laughs about it and the next thing you know, this dude, this kid is acting out childhood fantasies that should have been squashed."

He adds:

"Can I make it any clearer? Dads, the second you see your son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up. Give him a good punch. Ok? You are not going to act like that. You were made by God to be a male and you are going to be a male."

Harris has advice for parents who think their daughters might be acting too butch:

"And when your daughter starts acting to Butch you reign her in. And you say, 'Oh, no, sweetheart. You can play sports. Play them to the glory of God. But sometimes you are going to act like a girl and walk like a girl and talk like a girl and smell like a girl and that means you are going to be beautiful. You are going to be attractive. You are going to dress yourself up.'"

Adds Harris: “Can I take charge like that as a parent? Yeah, you can. You are authorized. I just gave you a special dispensation this morning to do that."

  1. After all the rants I've heard from "good Christians," this has to be one of the more disturbing ones.

  2. As Dan Savage once aptly put it: if a man's a homophobe, he's probably also an unapologetic sexist as well. They naturally go hand in hand.

  5. Hmmmm. Punching children. This dumbass witch doctor is advocating physically abusing children so they conform to his viewpoint. You can get arrested for that and lose your kids.

  6. Nobody will ever need to remind me not to ever step foot in North Carolina; it's looking a lot like Uganda.

  11. And if this pastor had been black the comments on this post would be multiple pages long.

But the racist commenters on this site will point to his religion not race. Because when w white person is homophobic isn't not indicative of the entire race, however, is a person of color does the same thing it's a different story.

  12. Pretty soon this braying ass and his generation will be drooling in the corner at some wretched little nursing home. Can't wait for that day to come.

  13. Advocating child abuse. Nice! ;-P

Every day I'm more grateful I left the church.

  14. Churches really enable and reward antisocial and sociopathic behavior. Which is why so many people with that mental disorder become pastors

  15. @sugarrhill
So many black people aren't homophobic directly because they are black, but because black people tend to be extremely religious. It's a cultural thing. So it's really the exact same reason

  16. He's advocating child abuse that must in some way be illegal. Arrest the sick SOB.

  18. From his web site, we learn that Pastor Sean has a Master's of Divinity from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, and spent most of his career in the military.

So he's been trained in all kinds of methods he could use to beat up children: religious, psychological, and physical.

He also likes Good & Plenty candy.

  21. The Good News: Berean Baptist Church provides childcare during its services. They "thank God for each baby" placed in its care. I am sure the children are taught many interesting things by many interesting methods, by "faithful volunteers" who have received the Pastor's Bible-based instruction on child care, and his special dispensation regarding the way children should be treated.

  24. Congratulations "Pastor" Sean Harris, you just opened yourself and your "church" up to lawsuits from the victims of child abuse for inciting parents to violence against their children. Your "special dispensation" is no defense in a court of law. There is NO excuse for child abuse.
