American Psychological Association Reaffirms Gay Parents Make Great Parents in Response to Flawed Study

The American Psychological Association issued a press release earlier this week at the same time a "flawed, misleading, and scientifically unsound paper" was published which said children raised by gay parents fare worse than those raised by heterosexual parents.

ApaSays the APA on its website:

On the basis of a remarkably consistent body of research on lesbian and gay parents and their children, the American Psychological Association (APA) and other health professional and scientific organizations have concluded that there is no scientific evidence that parenting effectiveness is related to parental sexual orientation. That is, lesbian and gay parents are as likely as heterosexual parents to provide supportive and healthy environments for their children. This body of research has shown that the adjustment, development and psychological well-being of children are unrelated to parental sexual orientation and that the children of lesbian and gay parents are as likely as those of heterosexual parents to flourish.

I hope this helps Obama, the economy has put him in much deeper trouble than I have imagined.

Poor Maggie. Maybe she can get the cashier down the street to do a rebuttal study.

@UFFDA: What does this have to do with Obama?

Of course the anti-gay right wing will continue to push the faux studies because, you know, the APA has no credibility in their world.

don’t think this will shut up the bigots.

remember, these are the folks who put their fingers in their ears and scream as loud as they can so they don’t ever hear any information on the theory of evolution. why? because learning facts means that they can’t continue trumpeting young earth creationism.

facts are important, but they’re ignored by people who don’t like reality. it’s pathetic.

ERNIE – being an advocate of gay rights Obama could easily lose points among moderates swayed by a faux study now hopefully corrected by the APA.
