Evan Flanary, Gay SF Man Reported Missing, is Found Safe

Evan Flanary, a SF man who went missing this weekend, has been found safe after his mother and police launched a manhunt that took off on the web late yesterday.

Mission Local reports:

Berlingeri posted on her Facebook wall tonight: “He was SO SO SO apologetic that he worried about us. He had met a person, they hit it off fabulously, they were down town enjoying all the week’s festivities. The battery in his cell phone died and although he had a charger, it just wouldn’t take the charge. He never noticed the flyers but today he saw his image on a television screen and could NOT believe it.”

Flanary’s mother also posted a photo of her son taken today.

Flanary had been missing since June 19.

  1. Thank god my mother never initiated a massive manhunt when I vanished for a week on a meth binge.

  4. Wow, somewhat shocked that this had a happy ending, but happy to hear it! What a great mother to spearhead finding her son like that! Over-protective mothers on Facebook for the win!

  6. Good news. Now begins the examination whether there would have been the same interest had he not been white and cute I suppose.

  8. He was "downtown enjoying the festivities" FOR 6 DAYS WITHOUT TALKING TO ANYONE?

There must be a very big communication expectation disconnect in the family if he isn't concerned about not talking to anyone in his family for 6 days and at the same time his family gets all nervous after 2 days without contact.

  13. It's always good news when a young and attractive person is found unharmed.

  14. Just a reminder to all of us in the gay community to let SOMEONE know WHO and WHERE you're going when you use said apps and sites to hook up.
Not that one shouldn't go out and play and have fun, just use caution and communicate with those around you, as scenarios like this one sometimes don't end up so rosy.

  22. Glad he's safe but couldn't help laughing. For those of you who've forgotten, it wasn't so long ago that we actually had lives outside our cell phones. You know, when we didn't have to check our facebook status 40 times during a movie or get pissed because someone didn't answer our text immediately? You left a message on the answering machine at maybe someone would get back to you. At least he called before they had his face on a milk carton. :-)

  25. Would you guys stop being so bitchy?!?
He's safe and sound, it's a happy ending instead of a horror story. Also, he has a mother who loves him, something not every out gay person can say.
