Gay Conservative Group GOProud Endorses Mitt Romney

Gay conservative group GOProud this morning endorsed Mitt Romney for president, pledging "significant resources" to his election:

1-Jimmy-LaSalviaSaid Jimmy LaSalvia, GOProud Executive Director in a press release announcing the endorsement:

“Most gay Americans – like their straight counterparts – are not better off than they were 4 years agoThe truth is that gay people are living in the disastrous failed Obama economy too. President Obama and his friends on the left want this election to be about divisive social issues, because the President’s record on jobs and the economy is indefensible. At this critical juncture, we need a President with the experience and expertise to turn this economy around.  Someone who knows how the free markets work – former Governor Mitt Romney is that candidate.

“Not only does President Obama not understand how the free markets work – he is openly hostile to free market capitalism. President Obama’s repeated attacks on Governor Romney’s private sector record underscore this President’s fundamental lack of understanding of how our economy works.  Instead of demonizing free markets, President Obama should be focused on creating an economic environment that encourages free market investments and creates jobs. It is clear that the ‘hope and change’ of candidate Obama in 2008, has been replaced with ‘jealousy and envy.'  Obama’s divisive attacks appeal to the absolute worst in Americans.

"The truth is that this election is too important to wait or to sit on the sidelines. We plan on spending every day between now and November working to make Obama a one term President. For far too long, the gay left in this country has been allowed to dictate what they believe qualify as ‘gay issues.’  We think that jobs, the economy, healthcare, retirement security and taxes are all ‘gay issues,’ and on every single one of those issues, Mitt Romney is light years better than President Obama.

"We don’t agree with Governor Romney on every single issue – indeed we disagree strongly with him on his support for a federal marriage amendment and we have urged Romney publicly to take bolder and more conservative stances on tax reform, entitlement reform and spending."

Two board members reportedly voted against the endorsement, one of them being co-founder Chris Barron: “While I voted to endorse Governor Gary Johnson, and will continue to personally support his campaign, I understand and respect the decision of the GOProud Board . I appreciate the thoughtfulness the Board of Directors of GOProud put into this decision.”

  1. GOProud:
"Since President Obama has come out in support of gay marriage, it's been harder for us gay republicans to sleep at night. Our families look at us with the disdain they usually reserve for stereotypical leftist gay liberals, and that scares us, because we're still terrified of our parents, despite being grown adults. But we know that if we cut off our testicles and support a man who plans on taking jobs away from Americans and wants to continue to promote and condone anti-gay prejudice across amerca, maybe one day our parents will realize that we're no threat. We will never stand up for ourselves, or others, because we don't have the orbs or the spines. We hate liberals and all that they stand for, especially their work advancing marriage equality. Now, we'll go to a state where gays can marry, and get married there, but we'll never be a part of the force that makes that legality a reality. Because that's for stereotypical leftist liberals. So, we pledge to support Mitt Romney. Did you hear that, Mom and Dad? I said we support Romney. Do you love us again yet?

Their answer is still a resounding NO.

these boys are too pathetic for words.

  2. Free markets= pottersville. China doesnt have free markets. Europe doesnt have free markets. Canada doesnt have free markets.

The only people free in a free market are those with the means to compete IE the very wealthy.

The rest of us are left to figure out how to pay for $25 a pound ground beef and soaring energy and health costs.

As george Carlin used to say and Im paraphrasing "you are not free. They give you the 'illusion' u are free, simply because you can buy something"

  3. People disagree over economic policy. But if you are a gay American, there can be no disagreement over which party supports your primary interests and regards you as a human being deserving of respect -- the Democratic Party. Why GOProud gives cover to Republican hate is beyond me, but in the realm of sexuality and shame, anything goes I guess.

(I say this as a libertarian who loathes many Dem policies, but who is not so stupid as to vote against my interests. When the GOP finally embraces gay civil equality, they'll have a chance at my vote. But until then, I'm a Democrat.)

  4. The republican party is great at getting people to vote against their own self-interests.

  6. How many people are actually members of this fringe group- 10, 15, 20?

  7. Sad that these queens WANT to see DADT repealed. And every other gay triumph squashed. Nice to also know they support Romeny's hatred of women, hatred of immigrants, oh yeah, and hatred of gay people.

  8. And exactly what did they think Obama could do to help the economy when every attempt to do so was stonewalled by the Republican party? Economic change is legislated through congress, not the presidential office.

  9. I congratulate the Gay Conservatives on their remarkably short memory. The "free market" capitalist Bush regime with a republican congress actually gave incentives to sending US jobs to China. They actually gave tax breaks to corporations for doing so. How, per chance, is that attitude, or "free market capitalism" going to restore jobs to America? The reality is that when Americans are willing to work for the same 68 cents per hour that are paid in China, then, indeed, jobs will come back. A Romeny presidency would be disastrous to jobs, our economy, and last, but first in importance, gay civil rights.

  11. The white, privileged @$$holes have spoken. They choose to continue to be the submissive butt-boys for the Republican Party.

I hope when their party rapes them that they at least get a kiss and a little lube.

    Whores. Traitors. All of them.

  13. These guys need medication. And I agree, if there are more than 20 members outside maybe Texas and DC, I'd be surprised. We should ignore or punch them.

  14. Gay Republicans will always be the masochistic, red-headed stepchildren who in vain seek the approval of their straight GOP counterparts. Desperately trying to get a seat at a table, they will always come up short and always go back for more punishment. Tragic.

  18. Post-2010 elections was the GOP's chance to show they were serious about the 'jobs jobs jobs!' mantra they had been spewing leading up to their landslide wins... and what did we get? Republican-led Legislatures across the country trying to pass anti-LGBT laws by the dozens! 'Religious exemptions' for hate crimes, 'Don't say Gay' bills, banning Gay and Lesbian soldiers from National Guard units, and the list goes on and on.

And now GOProud just wants to pretend the past two years of verifiable, provable anger and rage against American LGBTs by the Republican party just doesn't exist? They want to pretend that a Romney administration, with their ALREADY stated platform of rolling back every single advance in LGBT civil rights they possibly can, won't make it even worse?

Unbelievable. Just unbelievable. They are cordially invited to kiss my you-know-what.

  19. Gay Republicans (an oxymoron if there ever was one;) Dignity Catholics, pleading at the shuttered cathedral doors; Gay Mormons, ex-gays and on and on and on. Just name it for what it is: self-loathing of the most profound kind. It must be terrible to hope that, by supporting the people who manifestly HATE you, you can win some measure of "acceptance." It is so easy to see. Freud would have a field day!

  20. I knew I never liked Romney, But when he was slamming gay parents last week, I really knew he is a bigot, sorry folks I used the B word. I could never imagine voting for a President that considers me a second (or worse) class citizen. Really agree with the above statement that Republicans are good at getting people to vote against their own interests. Oh and by the way and not to boast but, I am doing better than 4 years ago. Hey GOProud put that in your pipe and smoke it..

  22. What's indefensible, jimmy, is any group of gay men and/or women supporting the GOP, vocally, financially or otherwise. A gay man supporting Mittens is, quite frankly, akin to a jew supporting Hitler. Oh, no, Hitler was a monster you say, he exterminated the jews. That's exactly what these repugs would do to gays.

  23. Psychological propaganda and lies, that what these "gays" are selling. They are most likely are the gays who were given shock treatment for being gay and then programed to say they are gay and GOP. They are now robots or paid off agents for the propaganda machine of politics to confuse and twist the truth and make LGBT people and their supporters look bad, that is what CIA and FBI training will do for you. GOP now known as the Grand Old Psychos.

  25. How incredibly sad these comments are. The venom and hatred is sickening. We are all gay men and we should stick together not be clawing each other's eyes out. You hateful leftists who are so selfish that you cannot see beyond your own hateful political views need to get laid. No one and I MEAN no one is required to agree you. If a gay man cannot believe in limited government, low taxation without being attacked by mean and hateful gay leftists, then we have a HUGE problem. We live in America. We do not live in Muslim nation were we can be executed for being gay. GROW A SET OF TOLERANT BALLS. And grow up.

Shameful. Just shameful these comments. Shame on ALL OF YOU for your hatred. SHAME.
