Luka Magnotta Pleads Not Guilty to First Degree Murder for Cannibal Killing of Boyfriend: VIDEO

Magnotta

Alleged cannibal killer Luka Magnotta pleaded not guilty in court today:

Luka Magnotta, a Canadian porn actor accused killing, eating and mailing the dismembered body parts of his lover to schools and government offices, pleaded not guilty to five criminal counts including first degree murder.

Flanked by guards and expressionless, Magnotta, 29, appeared at the Montreal courthouse via closed-circuit video link for a hearing that lasted less than five minutes. His lawyer, Pierre Panaccio, entered the plea on Magnotta's behalf and requested his client undergo psychiatric evaluation to determine his fitness for trial.

That motion will be decided Thursday when the court reconvenes.

Watch Magnotta arrive in Montreal via military transport plane, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. Clearly this is another case of histrionic personality disorder. I'm sure Joe Amendola will be up there in no time at all to defend him.

  2. Here is an instance of what people talk about all the time when it comes to juries: there's actual video of him killing, screwing, and eating the victim. Still there will be a "well, that poor young man" juror you just know.

  3. He acts and looks very meek and mild mannered. Of course he could be doped up on anxiety meds.

    Is he wearing something under his shirt, like a vest? In the U.S. a notorious perp like him would be forced to wear a bullet proof vest in public.

  4. oh good, we'll get another Vince Li situation...they declare him crazy, send him to the nuthouse and he'll be back on the street in five years because "he's better now". No wonder the Canadian justice system is the envy of the world.

  5. Of course he's insane. A wanted man who is able to evade authorities and flee Canada and evade authorities in France and escape to Germany is out of his friggen mind.

  6. I'm not surprised. The consistent thread through all of this nutball's "career" is that he wants ATTENTION. Pleading guilty wouldn't garner the same attention a trial would so he's pleading not guilty despite the fact he videoed himself committing the crime.

  7. " Pleading guilty wouldn't garner the same attention a trial would so he's pleading not guilty despite the fact he videoed himself committing the crime."

    He was just brought back to Canada. There are a host of procedural matters for his lawyer(s) to go over with the prosecution and the court. This is entirely expected at this stage of the proceedings.

  11. I GUESS, Luka Rocco Magnotta MADE THE RIGHT "MOVE" BY PLEADING "NOT GUILTY" - UNFORTUNATELY, I DO NOT BELIEVE HE WILL BE BELIEVED. Mr. Magnotta SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN GERMANY. SAD SITUATION.

  12. Poor, dumb cannibal!

    One should know that if one is going to plead not guilty to butchering and eating someone then it is better not to post a video of one butchering and eating someone.

  13. There was the case in Germany a few years ago where the cannibal claimed the crime was consensual. He was convicted. It's too early in the case to determine motive here.

  14. @RATBASTARD

    Magnotta was extradited from Germany on a Royal Canadian Air Force flight and deplaned at a military air base. No need for a vest in that controlled environment.

  15. @JMAC Vince Li got escorted day passes. Big difference from being released. Is there enough problems in the world due to the dissemination of false information?

  16. Has it been confirmed that they were boyfriends or is it still speculation? It seems a bit disrespectful to the victim to regard them as boyfriends if they weren't. For all we know it could have been a Craigslist/Grindr encounter.

  17. Am sure this has been said...but who would ever want to see a porn of him? I guess he must be from "twinks gone mad"?

  18. Very sad story. I don't know if he's insane but clearly he's disturbed. I wonder what his backstory is and how he became the person he is. He apparently was weeping on the plane when he initially fled Canada, which doesn't fit in with everything else.

  19. @Dickster,

    Mirabel IS NOT a military airport. It was supposed to replace Montreal's other airport, Dorval, but it was disliked for being too far away from the city. I think it's used mostly for cargo these days.

    I mentioned the vest because it looked like he might have been wearing something a little bulky under his shirt. Maybe it was my imagination.

  20. @Carltonart,

    Yeah...big difference.

    A man who assaulted a young guy on a bus wearing headphones for zero reason, killed him, chopped his head off, walked around the bus showing off the young mans head to those watching outside, then taking a bite out of it, DOES NOT deserve ANY kind of 'pass'.

    =======================

    @Canadian,

    There's many reasons why he could have been crying, such as he was crying for himself [not what he did or his victim], he could have been hurting for drugs [being on a plane for a long time would make it difficult for him to indulge], etc.

  21. Too bad he wasn't turned over to the Chinese. They would have given this freak a quick trial and a bullet to the back of his head. He'll be getting escorted 'day' passes to the local mall in Canada.

  22. @Canadian My comment was meant to address the dissemination of false information. As gay men, we have been subject to this. I would expect a higher duty of care in that respect. Magnotta did his mailing and videos, then left the country before our authorities knew there was a crime committed. Even after the excellent work by our authorities, there has been an unfair indictment of Canada, and our justice system. With regards to Vince Li, personally I am outraged by his day pass. However, it should be noted that we Canadians have a history of peacefully challenging policies that we find abhorrent.
    That is all I wanted to say.
