Arizona Candidate Kyrsten Sinema Would Be First Out Bisexual Congressperson in Nation's History: VIDEO

Sinema

Current's John Fugelsang asks Arizona Democratic Congressional candidate Kyrsten Sinema, who would be the first out bisexual member of Congress in the nation's history if elected,  "Do you think that bisexual Americans have an equal place in the gay rights movement?"

Says Sinema: “I believe that all people have an equal place everywhere in this country, regardless of what movement you’re in or what community you live in. Every single one of us is equal in this country. That’s the beauty of the American dream. I believe we all have a place.”

Sinema would much rather focus on issues than her sexuality, however.

  3. She handled a vague question well, but I don't understand what he's even asking. Is he asking whether bi people are as welcome as anybody elae at gay-issues discussion tables?
Is he asking whether bi people are less likely to suffer consequences from the lack of gay rights (perhaps since only some of them who are in relationships are with someone of the same sex)?

  4. Before you get all goo-goo over an openly bisexual candidate, bear in mind the following regarding Kyrsten Sinema:

-- While they were both in the legislature, she too often found common cause with radical Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce, sponsor of Arizona's infamous SB1070. Sinema sponsored anti-immigration legislation regarding so-called drop-houses with far-right Republican support, including from Pearce and Governor Jan Brewer. Sinema was so cozy with Pearce that at one point she even gushed on one of Phoenix's public affairs TV programs, "I love Russell!" (Google it.) Pearce, of course, was recalled from office by angry voters last year.

-- Sinema was one of the Green Party's Arizona representatives during the 2000 election. Remember what we got from the Greens in Florida that year? Eight years of Bush, war, and recession/depression. Kyrsten did her part in Arizona.

Sinema's pronouncements during her congressional race have been so calculated and so all over the spectrum that Democratic voters are quickly realizing that she will say or do whatever she thinks is likeliest to win her the most votes, principles be damned. The other two Democratic candidates, David Schapira and Andrei Cherny, are known quantities who would be electable in the November general election. Sinema's self-absorbed, erratic statements on a variety of issues make her the loose cannon in the race, and the Republican nominee has a much better chance of beating her in this swing district than they would against Schapira or Cherny.

  5. What's wrong with John Fugelsang? He's a fill in for Spitzer this week. I hear him regularly on the Stephanie Miller Show, and he doesn't come across in a negative way... Jeez people on this board will attack anything to get in a snarky comment.

I didn't realize that the green party was voting for George W Bush. What are you talking about?

  10. The end times are upon us. Morality in this society has crumbled. Jesus Christ is coming soon! Every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father!
