Towards the end they became very difficult for her to sing."

  1. That new PETA campaign is really confusing. They're sending a 'turn your back on fur' tagline into the currently fairly bearded, naturally furred and frequently bearish community of stylists, designers, and make-up and hair people? That doesn't sound very effective and thought-through...

  4. Fires in Spain, Greenland melting: it's here folks. More than fur or even gay rights, climate disruption is the most important than everything else. If we're not careful, there won't be any of us left to get married or where fur (or even get old and fat).

  6. "Met Gov. Romney last nite - excellent human being" - What an odd turn of phrase. Not "he's an excellent man, an excellent person, an excellent guy". Kinda weird. I kind of hate the fact that The Middle is one of my favorite shows because of Heaton's politics but at least she is not spouting homophobic crap. She was pretty ignorant during the whole Sandra Fluke incident but in her defense, she did apologize and recant her words. Oh well. I guess if I can endure some of friends liking Romney, I can endure her.

  8. I have boycotted anything Patricia Heaton has done for years now since her insane, right wing extremists views about the Terri Schiavo case. The whole case had nothing to do with Heaton but she stuck her nose in anyway to try and use the situation for her own publicity.

Patricia Heaton is just the same as trashy, use-anybody-and-any-situation-for-attention, mouthy, dumb Sarah Palin. They are an embarrassment to the human race.

  9. I like the Middle too. It's so odd to me that PH is so conservative since her tv characters have been so down to earth, blue collar, yet not palin creepy. Given the blatant lies Mittens is telling about Obama (did anyone hear his Veteran's speech yesterday?! he actually inferred that the Bin Laden incident was all a political stunt) the lies about Bain (does anyone actually believe he was CEO, sole shareholder, financial beneficiary and not have any say on how it ran) and the fact that he probably cheats the system (as only the rich can as probably evidenced in his mysterious tax returns)--how could anyone possibly think of him as an excellent human being?

  15. I hate Austin Armacost as much as the next sensible person, but stop saying he's fat. He's got a perfectly attractive body, and there is plenty more there to criticize.

  16. I hate Austin too, but he is definitely not fat and if you think he is you are part of the body image problem in this country.

  18. RE: Sally Ride

    Michelangelo Signorile got it right.

    Andrew Sullivan was gravely wrong.

  22. Michelangelo Signorile, the person who was at the forefront of the "outing' craze of the '90's has seen the benefits of letting people who 'would' make good role models come out at their own pace. Andrew Sullivan has never written an opinion piece that does no more than foment hate and disaffection in every situation. He is a writhing, fulminating ball of displeasure to which no one could possible rise above in his eyes. I wish he would keep his anger and wretched displeasure to himself. Talk about your angry catholics and know-it-all ex-pats from Britain...

  23. Austin is not fat, he is re-living his glory days(that died four years ago). He needs a big strap of fur to hide his HUGE ego.
