Conservative Website Claims Jane Pitt 'In Fear' Following Anti-Obama Op-Ed

JanePittConservative website WorldNetDaily has seized on news that Jane Pitt, mother of actor Brad, penned an op-ed praising Mitt Romney and blasting President Obama for being a "liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage." And, yes, they're covering the story in grand fashion, claiming the media "slant" has worked people into a frenzy and describing Mrs. Pitt's tone as "laden with heaviness of heart."

WND spoke briefly with Pitt and asked about the media assault against her for her comments as a private citizen supporting Romney. With inflections in her voice that conveyed fear and despair, she quietly and politely said she was not interested in talking to anyone in the media about the incident.

When she was told WND supported her right to speak her mind and is appalled by the threats against her life, Pitt expressed gratitude to WND for being one of the few news agencies doing so.

Even her thank you, however, was said in a subdued manner laden with heaviness of heart.

They also claim "Pitt has every reason to be frightened," because some random wackos wrote violent tweets and the "mainstream media have painted her in a vilifying light."

It's unclear what media they're talking about, since Jane Pitt's letter seems like a blip when compared to the international sensation that is Doug Pitt.

  2. PLEASE...FEAR...it's only the gun toting right wing nuts that may want to blow her brains out. But isn't she now their machine gun toting matriarch?
    Hell...they adore her!

  3. "Laden with heaviness of heart?" Was this story written as part of a high school creative writing class? Barf.

  4. That article is absurd, but I still don't understand why anyone cares what a celebrity's parents thinks. This would be like contacting Lindsay Lohan's parents for psychiatric care. Why should anyone be concerned about what they think?

    "GOOD HEAVENS!WorldNetDaily Exclusive

  6. Puhleeze. She's protected by the fame and public adoration of her son. Anyone that would want to hurt her, would also want to hurt Brad Pitt. There are crazies out there (just look at WND) and when you open your mouth, you open the lock on your privacy. Besides, she lives where? Missouri? The "Show Me Your Bigotry" state?

  8. @DANSWON The "standard christian-american viewpoint" equates to being "some kind of ultra-right wing hateful fascist". They are one and the same.

But, as for leaving that "poor lady" alone? That's nonsense!

Look, it's one thing to voice an opinion while standing in the checkout line at the local Walmart.

But, she chose to make her opinions public by endorsing Mitt Romney in a published op-ed piece while conversely slandering President Obama by accusing him of being a "baby killer" for supporting a woman's reproductive rights and the civil equality of LGBTQ Americans.

As far as I am concerned, she is now fair game and she is deserving of whatever fair and honest criticism she gets.

If there are "threats" against her, that is wrong.

But to vociferously protest her published bigotry is not a crime and I hope she gets back 1,000 times the negative garbage that she has spewed.

  9. Excuse me, but everyone is entitled to say what they feel. Threats are completely wrong and it only makes us look bad. We need to show we can rise above any criticism through peace and understanding.

  10. Fear my ass. You want fear? How about walking hand in hand with a same sex partner mostly anywhere in the U.S. Yeah she has a real fear of being randomly bashed in public because some hater "spots her" as a wingnut and attacks her.

  11. How ironic that just a few years ago, GLBT people were living in fear of people like her.

  12. F her - who cares what that woman thinks - she's Nothing but a Rightwing Incubator to a Leftwing Philinthropic caring/giving son.

  13. There is a way out of the hell Jane Pitt has created for herself. She needs to publicly apologize for the harm she has caused by her demeaning, disrespectful comments aimed squarely at the LGBT community. She knew how incendiary her comments would be, and was deliberate in making them. Nothing less than a full apology is required.

  14. Oh, boo hoo. I feel a heaviness of heart when I think about homophobia, and have often been frightened by the way right-wing media have villified gays and lesbians. With that said, Mrs. Pitt has every right to express her personal opinions. But, she must realize that other people have every right to disagree with her personal opionions and have the right to say so publicly.

  15. @ Sarina, you are absolutely correct that threats of violence are wrong regardless of the source. However, there is absolutely no credible evidence whatsoever that she has been threatened. To be clear, she has been publicly ridiculed for her published hate, but that is not a threat. Before wringing your hands, and castigating what is ostensibly your own community, I would think you would ask for proof that any threats have been actually made. No, leave it to the "conservative" media to spread even more unfound fear against liberals, queers, and sane people.

  16. The usual crap - right-wing haters spew their venom then act like trembling victims when they are called out on their BS. It's really gotten old by now.

  17. Threats are inexcusible, however, she purposely wanted her "opinion" to be made public by writing a op-ed response in the local paper. She owns her words and others have the right to free speech to critize her bigoted and yes hateful views. Cry me a river b*tch.

  18. Why is it that a person who takes it upon themselves to publicly attack a minority group then suddenly becomes a victim? No, that is not how it works. I have no beef with Brad Pitt, as everyone has crazies in the family. I do, however, have a beef with Mrs. Pitt, who has chosen to be a public person in her venomous attack on my basic human rights.

  19. Well these threats will galvanize the Right Wing Rush is talking about it. Sean will probably cover the threats today on Fox.Obama is going to lose the election become of the economy. . So get prepared for President Romney

  20. So she makes public comments claiming she is a superior human being, has judged others inferior, and she feels so strongly about it that the government ought to legislate her hatred, inspire others beat us, fire us, kill us and work to turn our own families against us. Now no one should mention it, no one should call her out on it and no one should talk about it. Isn’t that’s how Hitler got elected? (yes)

  21. well, now she knows what those terrified gay youth she hates feel like.

  22. Once again the right wingers can speak out and verbally attack us but if we speak out against them we are a "threat" and WE are the bad guys !

This is why the US needs media laws to ensure the news is reported equally from BOTH sides. We used to have these laws but sh#thead Ronald Reagan took them away so his rich, media-owning friends could continually support the right wing and vilify the left wing.

Once again - any so called gay Republicans need to take not of which side of the political fence is attacking us again. I'll give you a clue - it's not the Democrats !

  23. Typical LIES from the far-right extremists. So what else is new? I very much doubt that Brad's mother is getting any threats.

Miss Pitt deserves every criticism for putting herself out there with her "public" views. No one forced her to write an op ed piece. SHE decided to write her BIGOTRY against gays/lesbians not to mention her insults to President Obama.

Her opinion is based on bigotry, ignorance and hatred. She does not deserve any respect or civility when all she is spilling out is HATE speech.
