New Obama Ad: What Is Mitt Romney Hiding? — VIDEO

Taxes_romney

A new ad set to air in Pennsylvania as Romney visits hits Mitt on his hesitancy to release his tax returns, CNN reports:

“Mitt Romney has used every trick in the book” when it comes to his financial portfolio, the ad’s narrator says. It points to reports of Romney’s offshore investments in places considered to be tax havens for Americans.

Obama’s re-election team and national Democrats have inundated Romney with attacks in recent weeks over his finances, calling on the presumptive GOP presidential nominee to make public additional tax documents to answer any lingering questions.

Romney has released his 2010 tax return and an estimate for 2011. He has pledged to release the full return once it's available.

Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

In related news, a Romney attack ad featuring Obama's rendition of Al Green's lyrics "I'm so in love with you" was taken down by YouTube on copyright infringement.

Responding to the YouTube take-down, Romney's campaign said they were prepared to defend the video.

"Our use was 100% proper, under fair use, and we plan to defend ourselves," a campaign official said.

  1. That is quite surprising... I have never heard of that before reading your post!
It makes me quite puzzled and angry too!

  2. I find it funny that the same man who supports Birthers in their demand for the "real" paper, is refusing to release his own damned "real" paper.

  3. After watching for decades as decent guys were absolutely slandered by the right, who defined their opponents fast and furiously (i.e. turning war hero John Kerry into a war criminal!!!) I am so glad to see the Dems hit hard.

As for the Romney campaign, they are in the usual Democrat position -- defensive. They are flailing. It's great to see.

Who'd a thunk it, the Dems grew a spine -- Keep it up!

  4. Love this. Hit em hard, Barack.

  5. If there is such a call for transparency, then Obama needs to release his college and law school transcripts!!!

    What is he hiding???

    Marginal grades...Ds and Fs

    Think about it

  6. Yes Liz, because they always put failing students in charge of the Law Review. It's a "perk" to get them to improve their grades I bet....

  7. Hey Liz...remember slap your mother for birthing a monster like you.

  8. Ah, I see Liz the Loon is trying to distract with another offshoot of the birther argument. Obama graduated Magna cum Laude from Harvard Law and was President of the Harvard Law Review, not something that a C or D student would accomplish. You must be thinking of that dunce, our former President who managed C's only because he was a legacy student of GHW Bush.

Marginal grades aren't D's and F's. Marginal grades are C's and D's. Maybe you're confusing the grading system for your school's "special needs" class, which I'm sure you rode in the short bus to attend.

Your man Willard is cruising to defeat in November and you're going to have to deal with 4 more years of Obama Derangement Syndrome. Romney will release his tax returns or he will not be elected. It's that simple. The questions are only going to linger and voters care more about tax returns than college grades, but nice try, troll.

  9. Well I am taking the Obama's teams lead and emailing as many persons as I can asking those REDs to demand Mittens 2001-2008 tax returns.

  10. Lz

LOL so Harvard conspired to put Obama in as head of Law review? sorry can't get that position without stellar grades

    modern repubs are crazy

  11. Yeah, Liz. The earth will quake when it sees Obama got a C in mythology.

  12. Voter don't give a damn about tax records, moron, and when the "wrong track" numbers are sky high the incumbent prez is always tossed. Even black Jebus.

  13. Damned if you do. Damned if you don't. Romney is going to have to release the returns at some point. Otherwise, this will be an issue that will never go away.

This is the same tactic that was used on Kerry by "Swift-boating" him. Attack your opponent on his greatest strength. Take the fight to him and keep the other man off-balance and on the defensive.

Good strategy...for now. But what happens if Romney releases his tax returns? After a flurry of inquiries, this issue will be put to rest.

  14. Markus

actually all the polls show the majority of voters do want to see mittens tax returns

all the polls also pretty much show Obama beating romney by about the same % he was beating mcshame this point in the election 2008...one only has to wonder if Obama will reach the same 7.2% margin by the time of the last debates and the election like he did with grampy mcgrumpy mcshame

  15. PS here you go markus

    latest PPP poll

56% to 34% think romney should release 12 yrs of tax returns

with specifically the much needed to win indies 61% vs 27% should release tax returns

LOL reality always getting in the way of repub delusions and spin

  16. A conservative journalist, George Will, hit the nail on the head. He said that Romney has calculated that the risks of releasing his tax returns are greater than the risk of stonewalling and hiding them from the voters.

  17. In the fine Republican tradition of Richard I-am-not-a-crook Nixon they are about to nominate Mitt I-wasn't-even-there Romney. Or are they?

This might get so bad for Romney that the Repubs at the convention may have to nominate a dark horse (and, no, it won't be Romney's dancing horse for which he took a $77,000 tax deduction, probably for dancing lessons?)

Jon Stewart on his Monday night show did a fine job of shredding Romney's positions on tax returns, Bain retirement, tax havens overseas, etc. Catch it if you can. I'm sure many Repubs must have recorded it, haha.

  18. Wait, how could a Republican be grasping, selfish and dishonest? How somebody who aspires to public office could fudge their taxes is beyond me. Romney is a total train wreck.
