Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski Fine with a Gay Teammate

After initially snubbing him because he was "afraid of saying something wrong", New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski answered a couple of questions for Outsports' Cyd Zeigler at the ESPY's:

GronkowskiHe gave me time for two questions.

“Have you ever played with a gay teammate?” I asked.

He thought for a moment and said he didn’t know of any.

“How would you feel if one of your teammates on the Patriots came out of the closet this season?”

This time he didn’t pause.

“If that’s how they are, that’s how they are,” Gronkowski said. “I mean, we’re teammates so, as long as he’s being a good teammate and being respectful and everything, that’s cool.”

After all, if you're willing to "eff Tebow to take his virginity," you should be fine with a gay teammate.

  1. Has the statute of limitations run out on using a picture of this guy's body? Leave it there much longer and we might think he's really available. It's a blatant case of false advertising. The ESPN pics are obscene in their beauty.

  2. You guys are truly pathetic. Gary is right. What this player said is the same as saying about a black man that "I am cool with him around,as long as he does not steal anything." Words do matter. His statement is clear that he is not comfortable with gay men. "as long as they are respectful." What does that exactly mean, respectful? He could have simply said that he has no problems with gay men, but he had to go ahead and make sure we all understand that he is so straight, by add the big "BUT" to his statement. He automatically assume that gay men are not "respectful," whatever that means to him and that is not being supportive of the gay community. It is more of being tolerant of us. Meaning, if a guy tells him that he is gorgeous, would that be disrespectful? Because he can sure say that to all the girls around him, right? Wake up silly guys!
