Bryan Fischer Calls Freedom From Religion Foundation Request "Northern Aggression": VIDEO

Reacting to the Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation's request that schools stop airing a prayer before football games, American Family Association radio host Bryan Fischer yesterday said such atheism-based movements looking to boot religion from the public sphere amount to "Northern aggression against the South" and suggests calling in the National Guard to protect Biblical perspectives.

  1. The U S really needs freedom from religion. A larger percentage of U S citizens believe in all that religious mythology than the citizens of any other Western democracy. We should follow the lead of Western Europe and begin to put religion in the ash can of history.

  3. Southerners are the epitome of people voting against -- and fighting against -- their own best interests. The more that the fundamentalist Christianists who infest the region thump their bibles, the more evident it is from their actions that they have nothing but contempt for what Jesus preached.

At least now it is becoming more explicit that their owners want them to be ignorant, as evidenced by the fact that the Texas Republican Party has officially come out against the teaching of critical thinking skills.

  4. "America was founded on christian beliefs..."

This is the common (but incorrect) assertion made by members of the Religious Right who are attempting to rewrite history in their image. Look at Barton's book "The Jefferson Lies" and its scathing critique by Throckmorton and Coulter called "Getting Jefferson Right". (Go to for links to more detail on Barton and this particular controversy than you could ever desire.) Throckmorton has unquestionable conservative Christian credentials. So, how have the supporters of Barton attacked Throckmorton? By playing a gay card! Throckmorton is an associate professor of psychology - and a vocal opponent of reparative therapy for LGBT folk. Therefore, the Religious Right have decided that he has "lost his moral compass" and is now "a radical member of the "Religious Left"!! (*sigh*)
