Daniel Day-Lewis Looks Awesomely Lincolnesque in 'Lincoln' Poster

Daniel Day-Lewis looks perfectly Lincolnesque in the new one-sheet for the film, which also now has a synopsis:

Steven Spielberg directs two-time Academy Award® winner Daniel Day-Lewis in “Lincoln,” a revealing drama that focuses on the 16th President’s tumultuous final months in office. In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come.

Still no word on whether the screenplay by Tony Kushner, based in part on the book Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin, will address Lincoln's sexuality at all.

  2. And to think just 26 years ago we were all drooling over him in "My Beautiful Laundrette."

  3. Actually Kushner has addressed this. "He denied any interest in portraying Lincoln as homosexual – as had been speculated due to Kushner's sexuality – because "there's [not] enough evidence one way or the other to make a definitive statement about Lincoln's sexuality." via Wikipedia & http://www.jewishjournal.com/arts/article/kushners_old_testament_to_lincoln_20071026/

  4. "Still no word on whether the screenplay...will address Lincoln's sexuality..."

You're kidding, right? Off the top of your head, name one Spielberg film that addresses human sexuality that isn't filtered through a Hallmark Card?

  12. I love that an Irish-Brit is playing the greatest ever US prez. There's something a wee bit chuckly about that. But not to gloat, this looks like it'll be a great film and DDL never disappoints. He'll give a performance worthy of Abrahham Lincoln.
