Jane Lynch: 'F**k Chick-fil-A'

On Saturday night, there was a roast for Roseanne Barr in Hollywood, and Jane Lynch kicked things off nicely, the Huffington Post reports:

LynchBefore introducing the evening’s honoree, Roseanne Barr, Lynch took a few quick jabs at the assembled roasters, which included Carrie Fisher, Katey Sagal and Ellen Barkin among others. Lynch quipped of the woman-heavy dais, "This show is serving up more old spoiled hens than a Chick-Fil-A. Oh, that reminds me... Fuck Chick-Fil-A. "

Judging from the riotous laughter and applause the joke received, there were few Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day attendees in the audience.

The roast airs August 12 on Comedy Central.

  1. I'm sure everyone who lined up last week says "Likewise, I'm sure".

  5. Is this Chickfila 'outrage' a clever marketing ploy? How many people before this 'outrage' heard of Chickfila? It's FAR less well known than other fast food joints, but not anymore. I predict their business will actually boom because of this.

  6. Chick-fil-A is huge with sales in the billions. Moreover, it is one of the very fastest growing chains in the nation. They are popping up all over. They used to only be in malls, but in the last decade, they dot the landscape. Further, their patrons tend to be very fervent, sort of like the Trader Joe's of fast food. They have a huge and growing footprint among fast food chains.

  7. The interesting thing about the whole chick-fil-a fiasco is the way gay republicans, in a continuing desperate attempt to win back their parents' tolerance, are not only ignoring the facts of the issue (and pretending it's about Free Speech, which it aint) but are proving every Liberal right with their "don't raise a fuss! it'll make them hate us more!" screams of cowardice.

it's not about freedom of speech, nor is it even about "the right to marry" - it's literally about OUR LIVES.

all those families who turned out to "dine" at chick-fil-a? the vast majority of them have family members who are gay and not Out. young kids who knew, full well, that they were going to get a chicken sandwich that day because their parents hate gay people. and they're secretly gay. children. with each bite swallowed the bitter taste of shame went down with it. "we're eating here because my parents hate what i actually am"

and, of course, we get the gay republicans who went out to support chick fil a. why? because they've already become addicted to licking the blood of others off their own fingers.

keep doing it boys. it only makes you look like doormats.

p.s. lynch and barr ROCK. cannot wait for that roast!

  8. @Luke,

Do you have a link with this info? I'd like to read it. My understanding is they are smaller than Mcd's, Burger King, KFC, etc.

And, they're basically unknown in my neck of the woods, so maybe they're more regional but trying to become national. In this case, a guerrilla viral marketing campaign would do wonders. I think the anti-Chickfila gay advocates who have responded by showering them with publicity for a fairly vague comment it's elderly owner made during an interview [yes! I know he contributes to 'family values' stuff!,too] may have stepped into a pile of poo and achieved the opposite of what they desired.

  9. Chick-Fil-A is the nation's 10 largest fast food chain in sales. In 2011, it had 1,606 locations, and over $4 billion in sales. Moreover, CFA is ranked as the 10th fastest growing retailer and 10th fastest growing restaurant.

  10. I mean over $1 billion in revenue, $400,000+ in sales.

    Posted by: Luke | Aug 6, 2012 12:42:59 PM

  11. @Luke,

KFC [for example] had almost 10 billion in revenue FY2011.

Chickfila is definitely one of the smaller guys in the business. But the fact they're rapidly expanding explains why I think they could be benefiting from this huge free publicity.

  12. @Luke,

That 9+ billion in KFC revenue was in sales! Chickfila is not really that big at all, they may well be trying to expand though, obviously.

  13. Any expansion plans CFA has outside the bigot belt won't be helped by their large financial support of anti-civil-rights groups which in turn has opened up their dubious compliance with non-discrimination laws. Being a proudly anti-gay corporation in 2012 is bad for business, and they'll be paying for it.

  14. Ernie, what you call the bigot belt is very large in the United States. In fact, it is probably the majority of the nation by your definition.

    Posted by: Luke | Aug 6, 2012 1:35:30 PM

  15. @Luke: I didn't say it was small. But, it will be shrinking not growing, and many large cities--places where CFA could profit from expansion--are outside of it. Their support of anti-civil-rights groups, if it continues, will render them corporate pariahs. Just my observation--I have no vested interest in this, since there are no CFA's in my state, and it's highly unlikely any will be welcomed there.

  16. She a cliche. I've known so many dykes like her. Be glad when her 15 minutes of fame are over. Can't stand her.
