Royal Family's Attempts to End Harry's Reign as the 'Party Prince' Fail with Nude Vegas Photos

Photos of Prince Harry romping around a Vegas hotel room in his birthday suit have hit TMZ and are sure to cause ripples in the royal family.

The Guardian reports:

Royal aides suggested that Clarence House may contact the Press Complaints Commission if the pictures are used by British publications. The PCC declined to confirm whether it had been contacted by Clarence House.

Each of the major British newspapers chose not to use them in online stories by late on Wednesday, although they were published by the Ireland-based Westminster gossip blog, Guido Fawkes.

The reticence of the British media is likely to be interpreted by some in the industry as further evidence of a chilling effect caused by the Leveson inquiry into media ethics. Tabloid executives, including the Sun editor Dominic Mohan and the Mail Online publisher Martin Clarke, have complained to the inquiry that they could be forced out of business if they are unable to publish material that is put online by media organisations in other countries and widely available on the internet.

The photos were released yesterday following two days of similar photos featuring Harry at the hotel pool, racing with swimmer Ryan Lochte.

Writes the Hollywood Reporter:

A Buckingham Palace spokesman told THR that the pictures were "genuine" and that Prince Harry was "on a private holiday" and expected to return to the U.K. shortly. He also said it was "up to each publication" to decide whether to use the Prince Harry pictures. He declined to comment further.

  1. @Alejo,

What church are you referring to? The U.S. has strict separation of church and state, unlike numerous well known 'sophisticated' European nations.

As regards the UK [specifically England], Harry's mom is the official head of the state sponsored Church of England.

  2. Sweet Holy Ginger! But he could do so much better than those dumpy, cellulitic dime-hos he's hangin' with. Come on in, Harry, the water is fine.

  3. @Ratbastard: Keep on sighing, that suits you better. (And this too is *A GUESS*) And try to get over yourself.

  4. @Ratbastard: And btw your limited intelligence has betrayed you in understanding that scandalization is not proportional to secularism, or in your words...strict separation of church and state

  5. "Like father, like son"
Not exactly like father, like son. The picture in Playgirl showed full nudity - from the side, I think.

"[A]s I recall the photo, Phillip [sic] had nothing to be ashamed about."
I guess I'd have to see the photo again.

  6. @Alejo, aren't as slick as you think you are, papi. Are you located outside the U.S.? A non-American? Your knowledge of America and American culture is lacking. NO ONE in the U.S. except a small number of mentally ill and evangelical religious fanatics give a flying phuk about wardrobe 'malfunctions' or naked European royalty.

And yes, the fact many 'sophisticated' European nations have official state sponsored and subsidized religions does matter. Your attempt to brush it off is nothing more than you being unable to defend the embarrassing and un-progressive practice to of all people a 'cowboy' American.

  7. Regardless of what kind of guy the sweet Prince might be or his humanity or his definite courage serving active duty, what bothers ME about all this are the @$$holes who took the pictures. Privacy is dead, I guess. There simply can no longer be any private moments no matter how gloriously stupid they are. I, for one, would like to know who took the pictures, then take a sledgehammer and smack them square between the eyes.

  10. Whoever leaked the pics deserves to be beheaded. Whatever happened to the 'whatever happens in Vegas' law!?

  12. To be honest, by those very grainy photos, I could not say who I was looking at. That could have been any one.

  13. I want to know what kind of "friend" sells you out like that to Tabloids?

  14. "Most of my fellow Brits seem thrilled by this; a Royal with personality. Not decorous, no, but a real human being complete with the lapses of judgement and exuberance expected of youth."

Wow, that amazes me. Over 20% unemployment among young people in the UK and here is the very symbol of inherited wealth and privilege running around naked in Vegas and having a good ole time at taxpayer expense, instead of doing something for the rest of humanity--which his position and wealth have positioned him to do......and people are "thrilled by it?"

Well, it's your royal family, so I guess if that is what you all want from them, it is not for the rest of us to tell you to do otherwise.....

  15. Didn't the dude just save some people from a helicopter? I think he's allowed to run around naked in a private hotel suite.

It's not his fault that he was born into a family in which doing so meant that the probability of pictures leaking onto the internet were high, nor should he have to justify himself. He obviously not self-conscious about his body.

Yeah, he's an adult now and closer to 30 than he is 20, but surely he's not the first guy in his mid 20s who's drank a little too much in Vegas and played strip games. It's not exactly something I'd do, but I'm not going to begrudge those who would.

  17. How can the royal family expect anyone to asribe majesty to a reprobate? I am a dedicated royalist but Harry is no more a prince than a stray dog in heat.

  18. I absolutely LOVE Prince Harry. I highly recommend you friend him on Facebook. He posts the most wonderful pics of his late Mother. He is a modern, young, progressive royal that we all love to see having fun. Let him be free and enjoy life. He deserves it after losing the jewel Princess Diana

  19. He's young and single...and in a PRIVATE hotel room. Who cares! Rich or poor...we all like to get nekkid.

  21. My guess is that when E II dies, there will be a series of reforms that eliminate most of the monarchy, probably every time we get a gaffe from Chucky III.

  22. @ Continuum it is narrow to think that serving in the military is the only way to serve a country the Princess of Belgium and future Queen is the President of the Belgian RedCross while the Princess of the Netherlands sat on the Committee of Microeconomics in Africa for the UN furthermore the Scandinavian Royals have done their part in standing up for countless civil rights though several of them have a voice less than a commoner

  23. Well, at worst, they'll have Lloyd's insure his junk for a gagillion euros and then lock him up in the tower on a red velvet pillow or something like that.

Sorry, I drifted into fantasyland for a moment.

  24. @Christopher Allen Horton

Sorry. I just remember it was some years ago.

  25. At 27, Harry is still a boy in a man's body, and I don't mean that in any negative sense. Becoming an adult takes more than crotch hair and hormones, and Harry deserves to enjoy his youth. He's second in line to the throne; if that's all he's got for a life, it'll be a long, frustrating wait. BTW, it's equally acceptable for the rest of us to titter over the improprieties of the, supposedly, most proper of social elites.
