Spain's Miguel Ortiz is 'Mr. Gay Europe': VIDEOS

Spain

Mr. Gay Europe was crowned in Rome over the weekend and the contestant from Spain won for the third year in a row, the organization reports:

Miguel couldn’t show his face on stage without the audience cheering him on. Miguel’s win wasn’t all about his looks, he had to prove that he was an all around worthy winner of the title Mr Gay Europe 2012. But it was a tough fight to get to the top. He was up against Steve Grech from Malta, and host country favorite, Nicholas Menna as the top three candidates.

Not afraid to show his emotions, Miguel shed a few tears when he was handed the sash and the crown; yet again wowing his audience. Loved by everyone who meets him, we welcome Miguel Ortiz as the 7th Mr Gay Europe.

Mr Gay Europe 2012 consisted of 11 different challenges, amongst them an interview with the judges, a photo-session, swimwear competition, and a written test, amongst other things.

  1. Yawn, he looks very twinky and slightly cross-eyed. In any case, why are we holding these sexist competitions? Straight men objectify women but here we are duplicating the sexism, albeit with males as the objects.

Why are we so intent on simply repeating the bad qualities of sleazy straight guys?

  2. Pathetic.

Beauty pageants are pathetic; and their contestants are sad individuals.

  3. Ok fine. whatever. I can't look that good but I can't look that gross and dumb either.

  6. When did the commenters here become so embittered? Fluff is going to be a part of every culture.

  9. IMO it makes up too much of gay culture, so apologies from those of us who might find this subject a bit tedious sometimes.

Too many "gay" conversations sound like a bunch of 13 year-old girls talking incessantly about boys, which can get a little boring after awhile. Talking about hot guys can be fun sometimes, but all the time?

  10. Women's beauty pageants are degrading in the extreme to the women in that they place the contestants' value based on how she looks in a swimsuit.

How these male pageants are any different I don't know.

Many of these contestants will end up working as hookers.

  11. Is there anything in gay culture that teaches young gay men that they have value beyond their youth and physical beauty? That they have a purpose in life beyond self-objectification, looking and staying as hot and sexually viable as possible?

  12. Written question #1: Madonna or Gaga?

Written question #2 Natural tan o or spray tan?

  13. Why can't there be contests for fat, cross-eyed gay men?

Watch out for this thread to be filled with jealous gay men. A very vocal group of gay men are jealous of gay men like this yet drool over good-looking heterosexual males. Threads like this are always filled with "why do gay men have to look like this," "eat a steak" while threads about good-looking heterosexual males are filled with "he's so hot," "my mussy is moist." Some gay men don't want gay men to be sexual objects, they want to thwart sexual encounters between gay men. Anyway, I really liked these videos especially when the eventual winner touches the pec of the second-place finisher.

  14. What an adorable still photo of Miguel, I'll save it in my file for the smile it brings. It's the kind of joy I come here for. Good for him, good for us.

  22. Pageants are ridiculous and kinda sad but to each his own. They wouldn't exist if nobody entered or watched so there's obviously an audience for it.

  24. The Mr. Gay Europe contest? I thought it was a Sean Cody line up. Here's what it takes to be Mr. Gay Europe: http://www.mrgayeurope.com/competition/what-is-mr-gay-europe/

All I can picture is a boarding house in New York that is chaperoned by Ma Kettle, while the boys do their elocution excerises and walk around with books on their heads.
