FOX News Concerned 'God' Removed from Democratic Platform: VIDEO

Gnidp

A FOX News chyron, noted by TPM.

ABC News explains what the panty-bunching at Faux News is about:

The Democratic Party’s 2008 platform mentioned “God” once, in this passage (emphasis added):

We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.

Explaining the removal, a Democratic official explained: “The 2008 platform reference is ‘God-given’ and is about growing the middle class and making America fair, not actually about faith. The platform includes an entire plank on the importance of faith based organizations and the tremendous work that they do. Further, the language we use to talk about faith and religion is exactly the same vocabulary as 2008. I would also note that the platform mentions: ‘faith’ 11 times; ‘religion’ or ‘religious’ 9 times; ‘church’ 2 times (one is a quote); and, ‘clergy’ 1 time.”

Watch Senator Dick Durbin get into it with Bret Baier over the issue, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. Hey FOX, stop using God's name in vain. You're pissing Him off.

  2. Here's my question. Since when does a God need a party affiliation to protect him?

  4. Ha! dems sound pretty defensive about this. Its a simple question! someone, somewhere removed it for some reason. No one can seem to answer. The dems poured over the RNC platform on abortion, so now people are reading theirs. The only question is "why was it removed?" Which no one wants to answer.

  5. Problem with Dems deeds is that they always want to use OTHERS money to perform them. Ever notice that surveys show Republicans ALWAYS give more to charities than Dems. Talk about deeds.

    As for Separation of church and state. The DNC IS NOT a goverment organization. Its private so that argument does not wash.

    After all, this is the party that holds a "muslim prayer" for the convention, but does not allow a catholic priest.

  6. God does not want to go to a place He is not welcome. But, in the future when these people face their darkest hour and that same God they rejected rejects them and they will be lost forever what a terrible day that will be for this arragance.

    WHAT THEN?
    When the great factory-plants of our cities have turned out their last finished works,
    When our merchants have sold their last products, and sent home the last of the Clerks,
    When our banks have transacted their business, and paid out the last dividend;
    When the JUDGE of the Earth calls a reckoning,
    and asks for a balance, what then?

    When the church choir has sung its last anthem and the preacher has made his last prayer;
    When the people have heard their last sermon and the sound has died out on the air;
    When the Bible lies closed on the pulpit, and the pews are all empty of men,
    When each one stands facing his record,
    and the GREAT BOOK is opened – what then?

    When the actors have played their last drama and the mimic has made his last fun,
    When the film has flashed its last picture and the billboard displayed its last run;
    When the crowds seeking pleasure have vanished, and gone out in the darkness again,
    When the trumpet of ages is sounded, and we all stand before HIM– what then?

    When the bugle-call sinks into silence, and the long marching columns stand still;
    When the captain repeats his last orders, and they’ve captured the last fort and hill,
    When the flag has been hauled from the mast-head and peace seems to reign among men,
    When those who rejected the SAVIOR
    Are asked for a reason – WHAT THEN?

  7. @Ruth, CRAM IT, CHURCHIE!

    I'd be willing to bet money that like the vast majority of self-proclaimed "Christians" you are nothing but a flaming hypocrite who ignores ALL the Biblical rules that apply to yourself, all while insisting that the rules you can use as weapons against others are super-duper special and true. Most obviously, Ruth, if you are indeed a woman, is the part of the New Testament that basically says you should shut your yap and stay out of church AND government business.

    So either follow ALL of it or take your your "holy book," roll it up good and tight, and shove it right up your bunghole.

    Thanks!

  8. durbin's mealy-mouthed answer sucked

    should've said, "the democratic party unites all americans, both religious and non-religious in our policy and our platform reflects that" or something like that.

    if the dems really had balls, they'd say something like, "it's a secular platform for a secular government for a secular society. suck it, dominionists."

  9. Fox is reporting the news about the Muslim President, and that is all!

  10. Under direction of Obama, per Buzzfeed, God has been put back in platform. Jerusalem too. People may want to revise their previous comments.

  11. Do you think the ideologues at Fox Noise know that our Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution of the United States in 1787 without mentioning the word GOD?

  12. "With the Republicans, there's one belief system, and if you don't believe in a Christian God, you're out."
    Some of the Religious Right are outraged at Mormons praying at the RNC, saying the RNC is praying to Satan. Some have even organized a campaign to write in Jesus for POTUS. (So much the better for Obama!)

    I'm sure the outrage is even greater for the Sikh.

  13. oh boy I could say a lot about this but for one. Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his god, [the people, in the 1st Amendment,] declared that their legislature should make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of separation between church and state. Proverbs 22:16
    He who oppresses the poor to make more for himself or who gives to the rich, will only come to poverty. 1 Timothy 6:7-10
    For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. Timothy 5:18
    For the Scripture says, “Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain,” and “The worker deserves his wages.” I could go on and on I don't believe any where in the bible it say that the rich are suppose to starve the poor/middle class to death in fact it says the rich are to give to the poor. No where does it say that the Republicans are suppose to look down their noses at the Democrats or anyone else its clearly says be kind to one another. So before they start pointing the finger at us about God they better take a long hard look at the bible. This is where I have real issues with people and religion because they want to pick and choice what they should follow in the bible I can clearly tell you that NO one in this country lives by the bible including Republicans
