Watch Gay Republicans Explain Themselves: VIDEO

Before the Democratic National Convention gets underway, here's another nugget from the Republican National Convention held last week.

Watch as gay Republicans plead their case to BuzzFeed. Spoiler: there's a lot of "people should be able to do what they want" and justifications for supporting a party that wants to create a constitutional amendment prohibiting same-sex marriage.

Take a peek AFTER THE JUMP.

  1. I've always felt that their main concern is their wallets.

  2. In other words I got mine, you are on your own. Limited government except when it comes to pregnancy outcomes.

  3. Hate is a strong word, but I really can't stand anyone especially Gays or Lesbians who identify as GOP. I mean what the heck are you accomplishing?

  4. It's money: there's more money made by being a shill for the right and these guys have put their financial and political ambition above their honor, their integrity and their loyalties to any other person on Earth.

    Psychopaths can be gay too.

  5. Wonderful !
Those dark jackets and taking off the ties........really kicking back there boys !

how about a little consideration of "absolute equality" and the current position of the Repugs ?and some consideration of anti-discrimination laws to protect minorities in the work place ?

Or are you all just droning on about "small government" in a society of 300,000,000 people ?
Wake up.....being gay and Repug are not compatible positions.

  10. BTW Couldn't they be just some paid artists? :P

  11. I guess if you're rich enough to afford a lawyer to draft all the necessary legal documents to make your gay partnership or civil union roughly equivalent to a marriage (even though some privileges are restricted to only those who are married), or if you're rich enough to have the mobility necessary to transplant your entire life and career to a state with marriage equality, then vote Republican. I guess if you're willing to pretend that libertarianism in this country can really deliver meaningful personal liberty to everybody and that our institutions have not created a system rigged to deliver it to only a few, then vote Republican.

  12. almost everyone on the video was white....

  13. Yeah its all about money. They would be a few percent better off under a repug Government and thats all that matters. They are rich enough that they have organised the equivalent of straight marriage rights by other means, so dont care about anyone else. Its all about selfishness and the ability to ignore the fact that the rest of the party hates them and is using them, laughing at them.

  14. Gay and GOP? Rule #1, be white (or token Asian). Rule #2, be delusional. Rule #3, be more concerned about your personal financial wealth because after all, if you're rich enough, you can afford the male escorts.

  15. Hypocrites.

I love it when they talk about conservative economics as the real reason they are Republicans ... like I somehow want my tax dollars thrown away. It's embarrassing already.

What I don't want is my hard earned tax dollars going to personally line the pockets of liars.

  16. Rule #4: be so self-centered that you don't care about women's rights or minority rights because you are neither.

To the guy who is married in D.C... your marriage is meaningless outside of D.C. and the GOP Congress controls the laws of D.C. (it's not a state) and they could overturn your marriage if they wanted to so be careful what you wish for.

  17. Gotta love the all inclusive nature of the LGBT community. Someone that has a different point of view than you regarding how government should work definitely deserves to be demonized just because they have conservative views and happen to be gay. There are ACTUALLY straight and LGBT republicans that don't hold to the party line about gay rights just as there are Democrats that believe in the "sanctity of marriage" and don't support equal rights for the LGBT community but they're democrats so they're ok...

  19. I dated one a Catholic, Republic, Limbaugh-loving gay man a few years ago and believe me he was nuts.

  20. They are like concentration camp kapos. Selling out their own and abusing them just to get some privileges for themselves.

    Posted by: Steve | Sep 4, 2012 10:08:37 AM

  21. Wow, are those people ever deluded! The limited government they're all talking about doesn't have any resemblance to what the rest of the people in the Republican party mean by that phrase.

    Posted by: Jacques | Sep 4, 2012 10:09:43 AM

  22. Even after listening to the video a four or five times to be sure I heard what I heard, I'm still in shock. "Limited Government"? (That's how one gay guy thought he was being consistent!) "As long as Government is there to regulate society"? Both of these remarks justify their party's homophobia. "People should be able to do what they want"? Have they actually read the platform that LCR and GOPround are so happy they helped create??

  23. I suggest they wear their stock portfolios and wallets on their heads...to protect them when some redneck throws a brick at them and calls them f*ggot. Then let me know if your precious money protected you.
