Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy Spits Out 'Family' 6 Times in 11 Seconds, Says He Supports 'Biblical' Ones: VIDEO

Atlanta's 11 Alive filmed a ridiculous interview with Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy over the weekend after he agreed to answer questions about the recent anti-gay controversy in exchange for the network's coverage of his ranch and its Fall events.

He had his answers prepared. Someone told him to keep his focus on one word:

"Chick-fil-A's focused on families. We've always been that way. We're a family-owned business. We're led by family, and our restaurants are operated by families and we serve millions of families every week at Chick-fil-A. So, we're focused on the family."

He later added, "Families are very important to our country. They're very important to all of us who are concerned about being able to hang on to the heritage that we have. We support Biblical families, and they've always been a part of that."

Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. Families have gay people in them.

  2. die in a car fire.

    biblical families, eh? specifics, please.

you mean the kind of family where the patriarch offers his two child-daughters to a mob and then gets them both pregnant in a cave?

    that was pathetic.

  3. So... he supports polygamy and treating women and children as chattel? Is he so ignorant that he doesn't know that LGBT people are born into families, grow-up in them and form them just like breeders? Bigotry is bigotry --even if it is based on your flawed interpretation of scripture.

  4. Anti-gay bigotry: Another in a long list of Biblically-justifiable but no longer socially-acceptable biases.

  5. There will be dancing in the street when this corporation permanently closes up shop. If the hate continues to sprew, it will only be a matter of time.

  6. Well, Mr. Cathy, I would like to introduce you to my "biblical" family. Please say hello to my 300 wives and 700 concubines.

  7. think of all the families that went out to chick-fil-a JUST because of this anti-gay stance. those families included closeted gay children. sitting there, eating unhealthy food, knowing with each bite that they were there just because their parents hate who they secretly are.

these bigots literally have no idea how much harm they are inflicting on 'their own'

  8. Here's a well-researched list of "Biblical" family values:

  9. Oh Dan, how I'd love to toss your word salad - with a yard rake.

"Biblical families". LOL! Yeah, the rapey, incestuous, murdery kind. Good going, ape; proving once again that money does not equal intelligence.

  10. Prey tell, Mr. High-and-Mighty Cathy Family Guy, just what in the Hell is a "Biblical family"? Pssst, between you and me, I wouldn't consider the Bible the most family-friendly reading material, especially for young children and impressionable adults.

  11. Notice how he managed to say "Focus on the Family." In any event, what an absurd business concept. Will he only serve family groups? What about singles and unrelated groups that want to dine there? "Family" is simply a code word for a certain set of beliefs (usually revolving around some sort of bigotry) and has nothing with the common definition.

  12. You know, he technically works on the Sabbath since when that day is mentioned it's technically Saturday and since he follows Biblical values why isn't he insisting someone do to him what the Bibles instructs us to do to those who work on the Sabbath?

  13. I'm betting that growing up with the surname "Cathy" gave him a head start on the bully track. Now he's a "Christian" fascist selling Bronze-Age nonsense and greasy chicken sandwiches. What a dandy little niche to carve out for yourself. At least the idiots at Delphi could blame their blather on aromatic hydrocarbons. What's his excuse?

  14. Go lightly on him, folks. He hasn't been the same he had half his brain removed...

  16. I wonder if C-f-A will have an outpost at that ridiculous Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky (joining "Noah's" Coffee and "Palm" Pizza)? They'd be perfect for each other even though the museum is blaspheming God by being open on Sunday (but I'm sure the museum ownership's money changers, I mean, bankers will be pleased they'll bring in mites, shekels and talents seven days a week).

  17. I just can't hear the phrase "Biblical Marriage" anymore and keep a straight face, lol! But God bless these people for having the thought processes equivalent to a Grade 6 education, must make life so simple for them.

  18. I think all the Biblical families are dead.

    Posted by: Jack M | Oct 3, 2012 2:42:28 PM

  19. So I take it my family (husband and son) do not have the same 'focus' as other families and that our family is not important to our country and that we are not to be served because we are not a 'biblical' family.

    What a bigot.

  20. "Biblical" families? I wish that more christians would actually READ the bible. Then maybe they would realize that the book is not the moral compass that they believe it is.It's horrific, barbaric and nonsensical.

  21. Not being from an area with this restaurant around, I have several questions. If he is spouting "biblical" beliefs...are their stores open on the sabath? Does he get their menu items from farm fields where crops are not planted side-by-side? Are their staff uniforms made of material from two different threads? When will they remove bacon from the menu (the bible says something about pigs).

  22. It just goes to show, you can make all the money in the world, but you still can't buy yourself a brain.

There's lots of fast food chicken around, I don't need CFA's version.
