CNN Anchor Hangs Up on Bryan Fischer After He Likens Anti-Bullying Program to Cyanide-Laced Candy: VIDEO

CNN's Carol Costello confronted AFA radio host Bryan Fischer over his and the group's hate speech during an interview about the SPLC's "Mix It Up Day" which encourages tolerance. Students are encouraged on that day to sit and eat lunch with someone they normally wouldn't.

Said Fischer:

"...what parents need to understand, this is about pressuring public schools and students in public schools to accept homosexuality as a normal, healthy alternative to heterosexuality. It's interesting to me they're doing this on October 30, the day before Halloween, and what this program is, it’s like poisoned Halloween candy. Somebody takes a candy bar, injects it with cyanide, the label looks fine, it looks innocuous, it looks fine, it’s not until you internalize it that you realize how toxic it is. And we want parents to be aware that any program that any program that comes from the Southern Poverty Law Center is going to be toxic to their students' moral health. "

After that exchange, Costello questioned Fischer about the AFA being labeled a hate group and as Fischer started down the road alleging Hitler was gay and the Nazis were homosexuals, Costello ended the interview.

ColbertIn related news, Stephen Colbert applauded the AFA for standing up to "Mix It Up Day" (watch at 3:30 in the following clip).

"The next thing you know, Timmy and Bobby are making monkey butter."

Fischer was, of course, completely serious while Colbert was, Colbert.

  6. lovesit! teaching kids not to hate means they're being poisoned.

    suuuuuuure ;-)

Fischer, between You, Santorum, Brian Brown, and Romney there are nearly 30 kids. that means there's a few gays. ask yourself: would you rather attend their wedding to a member of the same sex/gender or their funeral? because those are your options.

  8. I'll never forget tuning in to CNN on election night in 08 after having alreadyrealizedthat prop 8 was passing. Costello was discussing the numbers and she seemed to realize it would pass as well. I'll never forget the expression of utter disappointment on her face. I think she even said "oh that's really too bad" or something similar. She actually made me feel better, knowing that so many people other than myself were hugely disappointed that night. Pure class.

  9. CNN should STILL be ashamed of itself for giving this Nazi a platform to express his hate in the first place.

CNN doesn't invite the grand wizard of the KKK on it's air, there is NO difference whatsoever.

  10. I don't believe I've ever "internalized" a candy bar. What bizarre language.

  11. Good for Carol, but my question is: Why do the networks continue to hand the microphone to anti-gay hate groups at all?
Was CNN also interested in hearing from the Grand Dragon about how he feels about white kids sitting for lunch with black kids or Christians having lunch with those "scary" Jewish kids who are out to destroy the world?
No other hate groups get their brand of hate promoted like anti-gay hate groups.

  12. Well done.
@Stargem, but doing so, they give people knowledge there are people thinking that way and by cutting them out, show how to deal with this.

  13. Another win for Bryan Fischer. CNN never asks me on.

  14. Okay, but what did CNN expect Fisher to say? If they didn't expect the diatribe they got, the diatribe that caused them ultimately to end the call, then they're just plain stupid. And if they did expect what they got, then why'd they invite him on in the first place? Smells like duplicity to me.

  15. No, sounds like if you give a dumb animal enough rope to hang himself...he will. And that's what happened...
    Thank You Carol Costello!

  20. This interview is an example of just how "FOX-ified" American news media has become.

FOX News has infected rational, unbiased, accurate reporting of the news by its ridiculous "fair and balanced--you decide" meme.

When FOX was ascendant during the Bush years and pretty much controlling the news medias' agendas, everyone--including CNN--scrambled to provide the "alternative viewpoint", which meant having any right-wing-nut on to counter the conservative's rallying cry that so-called "mainstream media" has a "liberal bias".

The mainstream media has never had a "liberal bias", unless reporting the truth about the nefarious, vile conduct of conservatives and their minions and exposing conservative treachery counts as "liberal bias".

Why does Bryan Fischer get a pass? This lady did an OK job in calling out Fischer for his blatant, hateful bigotry, but the news media needs to stop giving those wretched evangelical hate-mongers any face-time or voice-time at all.

By the way, Lothar Machtan and his book have been soundly, roundly criticized for brazen historical inaccuracies and have been picked apart and refuted by just about every reputable historian there is.
