I have epilepsy and regularly watch MSNBC, and it’s been really heartening to see the disease get some attention. It’s typically so invisible and misunderstood, and I often meet otherwise smart people who still think it’s okay to make jokes about it, think it’s a mental illness of some kind, etc. And the available treatments are often worse than living with the seizures. Hopefully Axelrod’s organization and a couple of the other foundations that exist will help spur more research and better outcomes.
