RoadTransphobia in the classroom at Houston Community College: "The morning of my final Dec. 11, 2012 In my Human Sexuality class at HCC Town & Country campus my Professor Dr. Janice Grecco took a final blow at me with her uneducated and ignorantly egregious attack on Transsexual and Intersex people ( more directly ME) and not only did she inform people that you can get HIV from kissing (while knowing I am HIV +) during the first month of class, and telling stories of how transgender people are really just gay men who can’t handle being gay and they feel it is easier to change genders and they chose to “mutilate their bodies and the resulting vagina neither looks nor works like a real woman’s vagina” I then spoke out and said that is hardly the truth, that I am a living experience of the situation Dr. Grecco was very defensive when I began to challenge the information she was presenting to the class as inaccurate."

  3. Disclaimer: I have not read the book and do not intend to. Nor will I waste my time to seek out serious academic criticism on The Hunger Games. But to me the movie had a very ugly subtext: that a modern, technological, seemingly "progressive" society (the way some of the adults seem queer and did not hide it) would perversely embrace such a hideously violent and deadly "game". And maybe it's just me, but something about the storytelling wasn't redolent of a "cautionary tale" but rather an ahistorical paean.

  4. "telling stories of how transgender people are really just gay men who can’t handle being gay and they feel it is easier to change genders"

And Towleroad effectively does the same thing every time it uses the term "LGBT" which asserts that transgender people are in some defining way linked to homosexuality.

LGBT is an anti-trans and an anti-gay concept. Why does Towleroad allow it to be used?

Right now it's a clinical trial conducted by the research team at University of Pennsylvania. They're currently accepting donations to fund their research.

  8. This happens to me too often. I now realize I've confused Nate Berkus and David Burka, beau of Neil Patrick Harris as if they were one and the same person. I suppose incidental exposure will result in confusion, however, past cases were embarrassing, like Roddy Mcdowall/Peter O'Toole! Ugh!

  9. It was worse than that even, it was Roddy Mcdowall/Peter O'Toole/John Hurt! I could never keep them straight in my head.
