Pope Says Gay Marriage Offends Human Truth, Threatens Justice and Peace

Pope Benedict attacked gays in his message for World Day of Peace 2013 today.

Ipad_popeSaid the Pope in his message, via Ansa.IT:

"There is also a need to acknowledge and promote the natural structure of marriage as the union of a man and a woman in the face of attempts to make it juridically equivalent to radically different types of union...Such attempts actually harm and help to destabilize marriage, obscuring its specific nature and its indispensable role in society. These principles are not truths of faith, nor are they simply a corollary of the right to religious freedom. They are inscribed in human nature itself, accessible to reason and thus common to all humanity. The Church's efforts to promote them are not therefore confessional in character, but addressed to all people, whatever their religious affiliation. Efforts of this kind are all the more necessary the more these principles are denied or misunderstood, since this constitutes an offence against the truth of the human person, with serious harm to justice and peace."

  1. Of course, the difficulty in claiming that people have misunderstood Natural Law, and that you therefore have to tell them what that Law is, is that Natural Law is what all people recognize as true, and the fact that opinions differ pretty much means that the subject under discussion isn't part of Natural Law.

The first resort of religion confronted with reason is to lie.

  2. Catholic pews in many cities are full of stupid queens who love its ritual more than they love themselves.

Or you could eat the cookie and stay, assuming you do not choke on it.

  3. My wish for 2013: To see this evil, true wolf in sheep clothing, lowlife nazi-scum curled up in a corner, dying painfully and slowly, for all his crimes against humanity. Sooner rather than later. Let's just say by February...

    There's always hope.

  5. Fortunately most of the world, especially the Catholic world, pays little real attention to what this medieval remnant has to say. He and his palaces are mostly just tourists attractions.

  6. I wish the Pope would croak and the Catholic church would stop making Gods of men.

  7. Please. What would that old thing know about "humanity". It is the best, most compelling evidence yet that malevolent aliens walk among us. It wouldn't know a human being if it ate one. Oh, wait...

  8. Shorter Pope: Gay people aren't human. Dude's not a pope, he's a poop.

  10. There is a reason Catholics don't take orders from the Vatican anymore, They can smell a Nazi from a mile away!

  11. @Diogenes Arktos I agree that many catholics do give the finger to the church. My brother turned when he got married, but my neice calls herself a "recoverng catholic." My former partner also self identifies the same way along with many more of my friends. My point was that they are not in the position that Santorum, Ryan, Scalia, etal. are. They are making laws on our freedom based on their religious beliefs in direct violation of the Constitution. BTW, I am not anti-catholic. Many years ago, I left a church whose pastor preached against catholics from the pulpit. If you want to be a catholic, fine by me. But please follow the eleventh commandment. "Thou shalt not shove thy religion down my throat." Also, almost nothing pisses me off more than hypocrisy. Granted, this is not the sole domain of the catholics, most evangelicals are guilty. They use one verse from Leviticus to justify thier homophobia but totally ignore other verses from the same book, ie, eating pork and shellfish which according to the verses is an "abomination" exactly like "a man lying with a man!"

  12. @Andrew Unfortunately, this is not the case. During this campaign both Ryan and Santorum were campaigning on thier catholic beliefs, ie, banning contraception, abortion and gay marriage just as the church tells them to. I said that if Santorum got elected, the old fool would have had a new palace located in Washington, D. C.

  14. Imagine an old confirmed celibate with a Nazi past and a history of harboring pedophiles putting on a fancy dress to publicly condemn marriage equality. Oh, wait, that just happened!

  16. Remember when the Church believed that the Earth was the centre of the Universe.

There was this guy called Galileo Galilei, who scientifically proved them wrong.

"Heresy" cried the Catholic Church as they tortured him and kept him under house arrest for 9 years until he died.

Oh, by the way, it is rumored that he was gay as well.

And all this from men who run around in dresses and Prada shoes.

  17. Catholics are just as human as anyone else, we all make mistakes. But we do have the commandments, the bible, tradition, and the Church, which Jesus set up to tell us what is right and wrong. Just because people think something is right does it make it right? Was slavery right? We all have things we are attracted to that are not good for us; sins that we fall into again and again. We shouldn't try to condone them, but continue to fight against them. Oh, and by the way, we live in America we were are supposed to have freedom of speech and freedom of religion, if you don't agree with the Pope, fine, but don't go attacking him. He does not hate the people in these life styles, but he does not agree with their actions. There's a difference, an important difference. And, opinions don't change truth. If you say a table is a couch, it does not change the table into a couch, its still a table. So go find the truth.

  18. That poor out-dated dinosaur must be going crazy, knowing people including members of his own cult no longer pay attention to his senile teachings. This moron is obviously way too old to be telling people what they can and can't do in their own bedrooms. Somebody should push his little pope-mobile off a cliff next time he takes a ride in it.

  19. To give sanction to gay marriage/same-sex marriage would be to give approval to the homosexual lifestyle, which the Bible clearly and consistently condemns as sinful. Christians should stand firmly against the idea of gay marriage/same-sex marriage. Further, there are strong and logical arguments against gay marriage/same-sex marriage from contexts completely separated from the Bible. One does not have to be an evangelical Christian to recognize that marriage is between a man and a woman.

  20. Note: GOD HATES SIN..not the sinners!!! We are ALL sinners, even the Pope. No person is without sin, that is why Jesus came or we would all be going to hell!!

  21. So the Pope made a comment that upset gays and American pseudo-Catholics. What's new? Anti-Catholic bigots use this as an excuse to express their hatred towards all thing authentically Catholic (excluding the American CINO), Nothing new there either.
