Piers Morgan Calls 'Gun Owners of America' Leader 'an Unbelievably Stupid Man': VIDEO

Piers Morgan got into a contentious debate last night with Larry Pratt, Executive Director of the Gun Owners of America, scolding him for laughing, calling him out on his lies, and ultimately calling him "an unbelievably stupid man."

Answers Pratt: "You seem to prefer being a victim than being able to prevail over the criminal element. You want to be the criminal's friend."

Snaps Morgan: "What a ridiculous argument. You have absolutely no coherent argument whatsover. You don't give a damn, do you, about the gun murder rate in America?"

  1. He gives a damn. Every murder and crime is another argument for him to sell more guns.

  2. Glad to hear someone calling these assholes on their bs

  3. Piers Morgan is a fatuous, self-serving tool. But in this case he's absolutely right.

  4. Mr Pratt is an evil man.

And he is a member of a terrorist group.

  5. The sneering contempt this guy had for Piers being British was telling. These pro-gun people are so paranoid and xenophobic. Probably racist too, with his bringing up the LA riots.

  6. Evil? Really, that's the base line for these douchebags? That's a second grade concept. How stupid are these people?'s obvious.

  7. Mr Pratt hates the British. He points out in numerous examples how the U.S. had to defend itself from the British using guns in this video here:

  8. Piers Morgan is really growing on me... His pushback on Marriage Equality w/ McCain, Lieberman, & Lindsay Graham was very welcome & long overdue.

Keep it up, Piers, people might actually start respecting News again.

  9. This is a man who has made the center of his life revolve around the fact that he owns a great, big gun. Hmmm... compensation for having a tiny, little willy?

  10. Piers usually annoys me but in this case I'm glad he's an opinionated big mouth. He said what so many are thinking.

  11. I have a question for Piers Morgan: Has he throughly looked at FBI/DOJ crime stats [very extensive and broken down], including homicides [of all crimes the one with the most accurate and reliable statistics; all other crime stats are fudged] for the U.S.? Going back, say, 10,20,30, even 40 years? Anybody who does can see the very clear and consistent patterns regarding where, when, and who commit murders in the U.S. [mass shootings, as dramatic as they are, register as a blip on the radar screen as far as overall violent crime including homicides are concerned]. WHY IS THIS NEVER OPENLY DISCUSSED? Why are the VERY CLEAR patterns of violent crime and the demographics and locales disproportionately involved CONSTANTLY IGNORED by the media and especially national politicians? WHY? It's VERY EASY to follow the narrative like a good lil' sheep dog and cry 'Gun Control!', it's A LOT harder to look at the MANY other facets of violent crime and homicides. This involves BREAKING DOWN statistics, studying clear patterns, demographics [OFF BOUNDS! CAN'T DISCUSS THAT, except for the fact males commit by far the greatest number of violent crimes and murders (file under D for duh)...that's OK to discuss because males in general aren't covered by political correctness],and as far as most of these types of mass shootings are concerned, MENTAL ILLNESS, BROKEN/DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILIES, DRUGS/MEDICATIONS, YOUNG MEN.

FAR MORE attention needs to be paid to MENTAL ILLNESS, including LOCKED UP in decent facilities dangerous or potentially dangerous mentally ill people. I understand there were terrible abuses in the past at mental health facilities, but the PROGRESSIVE policy of the past 40 plus years or so of putting seriously mentally ill folks 'In the Community' on out-patient basis DOESN'T WORK. The poor mentally ill folks are frequently victims of abuse, often become homeless and live on the streets, refuse to take help and medications [I'm talking schizophrenic-type serious mental illness here, not just depression, ADD, Aspergers, etc. where people are frequently OVER PRESCRIBED very dangerous drugs because it's the easiest and most cost effective way of dealing with them, and where diagnosis are frequently dubious. Even some so-called illnesses like ADD are dubious]. All because they have a right under the law to to do these things. Trying to get a seriously mentally ill adult 'Committed' is very time consuming, painful and even expensive process, primarily because PROGRESSIVES 40-50 odd years ago, and still most hardcore ones today, believe these folks have a 'Right' to live homeless on the street, to die on the street, to refuse help and treatment, and certainly shouldn't be placed in health facilities against their will. So-called conservatives realized 'Progressive' policies would not only save $ on mental health care, but allow highly lucrative private contracts for outpatient and privately run group home care. A win-win for 'Progressives and so-called conservatives.

And, as I also stated above, broken and dysfunctional families and family life play HUGE roles in all this. This is something seriously and sanely discussed even less than mental health care.

Finally, speaking strictly about these 'loner' mass shooters, we have a VERY SERIOUS problem with isolated, marginalized people in this country and in other countries. There's A LOT of lonliness and lonely needy people, and this is something that seems to make everyone squirm when discussed. I'm reminded of a story about these folks from Australia who traveled around the U.S. and one of the main things they noticed, especially once you got away from the big urban areas, was the number of very lonely and socially isolated people they encountered, many desperate to talk to another human, to have a friend[s]. It's environments like this that aside from genetics, help create monsters....mass killers, serial killers, sociopaths, psychopaths, etc.,

Nope, it's all about the guns, the scary guns. We're never going to be England or the UK, where regular police don't carry firearms [I've never been in any other comparable country aside from the UK and Ireland where regular police are unarmed. They are pretty unique and the U.S. is far more typical in this respect. The U.S is also a HUGE country, continental sized with vast rural sections, the UK is an island roughly the size of Oregon, HIGHLY urbanized with a very dense population [which makes it easier to control the population]. One of the things I've always noticed when interacting with Brits and western Europeans is by far most simply don't appreciate how big, diverse and vast in size the U.S. is. There's serious dissociation.

  12. Would be quite happy to see Mr. Pratt put in a room with an "evil" person with an assault rifle. We could even give him one for himself. Wonder how quickly he can draw that rifle and save himself. I'd think it wouldn't be a positive outcome for him. Us, maybe?

  13. I did some research on gun control in college and ended up having my mind changed. I don;t think that ANYONE should own a d@mn machine gun or assault weapon, but out-and-out gun control is not the answer to the problem we have here. 20 kids got stabbed in china last week too. Do we go after knives next?

It's the media. Stop salivating over tragedy. Stop pumping this sht up so much. DO NOT under ANY circumstances publish the name of the sad sacks who perpetrate this violence. Their names should NOT be household names. Focus solely on the victims of these crimes and there won't be so many sorry people trying to emulate the attackers.

  14. Did you catch the part where Pratt says that most people keep their "guns locked in a safe".
    Riddle me that, Batman...

  15. "Bowling for Columbine" gives the lie to both sides. The truth is America is a paranoid nation.

  16. ANOTHER thing MANY Brits and some Euros don't fully grasp is our state and federal government system. They don't fully grasp how the states are semi-autonomous, the role of the central government in Washington has it's constitutional limits, how different regions of the country have some unique cultural traditions and other aspects to them and so-on. Most also don't understand how the U.S federal/central government itself functions, what the president is constitutionally allowed to do, etc., A country like the UK, especially England, by comparison is highly centralized.

  17. @Jonathan OZ,

You know all 320 million Americans? We of course have public mental health issues like any other country. I certainly wouldn't describe the average person where I live [New England] as paranoid.

And you take Bowling at Columbine at face value? It's of course essentially propaganda...that is, it mixes some truths with lies and exaggerations.

  18. My mother always told me never to call a dummy a dummy, however I am sure she would make an exception for Mr. Pratt. In fact she would be the first to say to Mr. Morgan... Thank you!

  19. AND violent crime in the U.S. including murders has been steadily dropping since the early 90s. Our violent crime rate peaked probably from the 70s thru the 80s. NYC murders dropped from an average of around 2000 a year in 1989-1990 to less than 400 this year. There are some notable exceptions like Chicago, which by the way has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country and is the president's home. How many children [mostly black and brown] have been killed in violence in Chicago and other U.S. urban areas over just the past 11 months? Considerable, and it's much more common than a group of upper middle class mostly white children in a wealthy town being mowed down by a mass shooter. When was the last time POTUS went on TV and cried about all the black and brown children killed in the mayhem and violence of his hometown and other inner city neighborhoods?

  20. Israel realized they could never have enough police to protect everyone, so gun ownership was legalized and encouraged back in the 70s. Today, it's not uncommon for school teachers to be armed.

  21. I am absolutely disgusted with P. Morgan's interruptions during this interview, if he could have controlled himself and listened he might have learnt something about gun control. And the violence that has continued to rise in Britain today is nothing to be proud of.

  22. Israel has a conscripted military. If everyone in the US was properly trained with guns by going through that, then there would be less of a deal.

  23. I love it when people argue that it's only mentally ill people who go on rampages. That's great!

Now just try to convince your average Tea Partier or Republican to spend more money on helping the mentally ill in this country.
