  1. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for a litany of offenses, including the one Gene Robinson mentioned. Ezekiel 16:49-50: "Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread, and careless ease was in her and in her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before Me; therefore I removed them when I saw it."

It's kind of ridiculous to read the story of Sodom as an anti-gay allegory. That interpretation hinges on whether a Sodomite mob meant the word "know" in its carnal or literal sense. It could refer to rape, but it more likely doesn't. This interpretation is antique enough to have been adopted by Islam and incorporated in the Koran with less carnal ambiguity but all the same didactic ambiguity.

  3. Gene Robnson is an enabler of the bible thumpers. He chooses to celebrate the warm and fuzzy parts of scripture while ignoring the truly hateful messages it contains. Yahweh Told his peope to KILL all the living creatures in the cities they onquered. He Killed 70,000 people because he was angry that David took a census. He killed a man who touhed the Ark Of The Covenant to keep it from fallng in the mud. He had his people stone a man to death for gathering wood on the sabbath. He accepted the human sacrifice of Jepthah's daughter. He Killed the child of David & Bethsheba to punish them for their tryst. He killed everybody on earth except Noah's family because he was angry and on and on and on. As comedian Louis Black has said Yahweh was a prick. That is putting it mildly.
