Chris Brown Assaults Frank Ocean at L.A. Recording Studio

Chris Brown reportedly assaulted Frank Ocean outside a recording studio on Sunday, Us reports:

Brown_oceanThe 23-year-old has been accused of physically assaulting fellow R&B star Frank Ocean at a West Hollywood parking lot on Sunday Jan. 28. A report from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department confirms that "Chris Brown and the victim were involved in an altercation over a parking space. The altercation allegedly led to Chris Brown punching the victim," with Brown and Ocean's respective entourages being separated after a brief tussle.

Ocean tweeted: "got jumped by chris and a couple guys. lol. i only wish everest was there...cut my finger now I can't play w two hands at the grammys."

TMZ adds:

UPDATE 3:00 AM PT:  Cops say they will continue to investigate and want to speak with Chris Brown.  They refer to Ocean as "the victim" because he's the one who stuck around and spoke with police.  Ocean said the fight started over a parking space (how L.A.) and Brown punched him.  There were 6 people involved in the fight.

UPDATE 10:45PM PT: Police have cleared the scene. We're told Chris Brown was not there when officers arrived -- but they did speak to Frank Ocean. At this point ... we're told no one wants to press charges, and no arrests have been made.

  1. No one knows for certain if Ocean's sexuality had anything to do with the altercation, but given Brown's record of anti-gay remarks, he should have exercised caution and backed away from a conflict with Frank.

Of course, we all know that common sense, discretion and self-awareness are not in Mr. Brown's vocabulary.

  2. Chris Brown is the male Lindsay Lohan. Is he capable of acting like a grownup?

  4. Chris Brown = typical heterosexual male. He can't fight his own battles, he needs his "crew's" help. Chris Brown can f himself.

  8. Biased headline and reporting.

    From what I read:
At a recording studio, Frank Ocean spotted Chris Brown's car in "his" parking space, was pissed because he considers said parking space "his" and decided to block him in to prevent Brown from leaving while he belligerently (and with a shove) let him know that that was his territory. A member of Frank's entourage then reportedly swung at Chris. From there Chris's entourage got involved and it became a brawl.

When this first circulated at TMZ and the music blogs last night, I started counting down to when the gay blogs would begin reporting on this and immediately rush to Frank's defense -- making him out to be the innocent 'victim' of Chris's aggression...and, predictably, implying it to be homophobically motivated.

Chris and Frank have a long history of active animosity that goes back much further than Frank revealing his sexuality, so immediately jumping to the conclusion that Chris was the instigator or bully (when most accounts point to Ocean as the aggressor here)...or that his fighting with Frank at all is rooted in homophobia is VERY ignorant and bias.

  9. I don't even know how to express my continued contempt for Chris Brown. He continues to exhibit violent behavior, yet folks still buy his music and extol his dancing...he treats women poorly, etc; but he is held to a high esteem....he is a very poor role model and needs to fall from grace to change his behaviors

  13. What I can't understand is that Chris Brown lives in the USA; why hasn't someone pulled a gun on him yet and done the world a favour? Yeah, I know - that was a low blow but you can't hide the fact you wish it were true too.
