NOM's Brian Brown Revels in Anti-Gay French Camaraderie: VIDEO

Last weekend's anti-gay marriage march in Paris, which was attended by hundreds of thousands of mostly Catholics was also attended by NOM's Brian Brown, who recorded a giddy video for his supporters.

Check it out, AFTER THE JUMP...

Yesterday, the Human Rights Campaign hailed the end of NOM, calling it a paper tiger:

A new opposition research report out from HRC today finds that NOM was largely a paper-tiger movement this past year. In New York specifically, NOM promised that it would spend $2 million to defeat the four Republican State Senators in New York who backed the legislature’s same-sex marriage bill in 2011. NOM then backpedalled, saying it would spend $250,000 in the primary fights. According to NOM PAC NY’s campaign finance reports, it only raised $45,000 and only spent $40,000 in 2012 – nowhere near what it claimed it would spend.

The momentum for marriage equality is indisputable. Four state legislatures passed same-sex marriage legislation during 2011-12, and voters in four states for the first time in history approved marriage equality on the ballot last November. This string of legislative and electoral victories would not have been possible without Republican support. National and statewide polling consistently shows majorities – including African Americans, Latinos, millennials, Democrats, and Independents - back gay and lesbian couples receiving marriage licenses. And marriage equality supporters have more intensity than opponents, according to a recent post-election poll conducted by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner.

Opponents’ financing is also drying up. They were outspent almost three to one last year, $12 million to $34 million in the ballot campaigns. More broadly, tax documents obtained by HRC last fall show that NOM’s funding declined by one-third for 2011 – and that a whopping 75 percent of the anti-gay organization’s funding came from just two donors. It’s not surprising then that NOM is unable to follow through on the threats the group makes to Republicans supportive of marriage equality.

  1. i would bet dollars to donuts that BB is in France (with an interpreter) attempting some major fundraising, at the most, or trying to wriggle into a consulting gig, at the least. we don't know which way the wind will blow at the SCOTUS next june but i'd venture to guess that he's trying to hedge his bets by trying to be a player in French homo-politics.

  2. meanwhile back at home, Brown's 8 kids sit and realize that their family's livelihood depends on spreading hatred about LGBT people.

    8. EIGHT. Eight children. Law of numbers - the chances of them all being heterosexual are slim to none. And so there's a gay kid or two, waking up each day and going to bed each night, knowing that who and what they are is the very thing their dad is spending his life promoting hatred against.

do these bigots ever ask themselves these questions? do they not consider the risks?

you can't choose whether or not your child will be gay or straight.

you can influence, however, whether or not you'll be attending their wedding one day, or their early funeral.

  3. I wish BB would just stay in France, where he would (probably) enjoy a higher attendance to his anti same-sex marriage meetings and rallies than here in the US (sorry French friends for dumping that a****** to you).

  4. Some years ago, I would occasionally view EWTN, a conservative RC cable channel. Brown's coverage of this rally reminds me of the orgasmic EWTN coverage of the annual anti-Roe v Wade rallies - except they would go on for hours.

  9. Maybe this is just my subjective bias, but don't Brian Brown and Tony Perkins and many of their ilk have this weird sort of....crazy/vacant look in the eyes? I'm sure some kind of mental disorder (whether chemical or behavioral or both) goes along with having that much ability to devote one's life to hatred.

  14. He will be disappointed. Marriage for all already a faite accompli in France. Time will be this spring. Protest rallies will not alter the will of the majority in legislature.

  15. He is delusional. After spring this year, he has to travel to Uganda to find consolation there.

  16. Funny thing happened, I wrote something nice about Ryan's pic and then clicked see what this "man" is up. Well, I didn't notice I clicked Ryan's thread again and began to read. Imagine my confusion. Ryan and BB don't get same kind of reaction, for a reason.

Oh BB, please leave Europe asap. Paris is a city of love and what do you know about love?

  17. The number of people in the streets has recently been updated and is now lower that the initial count, now close to 300,000, and not what the video shows.
Furthermore, I watched the major news agencies online following the protests. The only news reported was on the very day of the protest and the following day. Nothing since. Nothing else.
That proves that the separation of state and church there is still strong. The government ignored it. The Assemblee Nationale (the House) has started writing the bill “Mariage Pour Tous” (marriage for all). The first 2 critical articles have been approved. The house will vote on the text on Jan 29 and so far, it’s pretty much a done deal!
Soon my marriage will be recognized in France and I’m excited about that!

  18. Is there any more repugnant an individual than Brian Brown? Not to mention that he is as sad and pathetic as can be. What a soulless, heartless man he is who gets joy from such hateful, spiteful bigotry.

  21. The idiot doesn't realize he was watching some Comédie-Française. Tomorrow if the government decides to raise taxes, there will also be large protest rallies. The socialist party and its supporters had their share of protests when the conservative party was in power.

  22. That video is revolting. Every gay person complacent about LGBT rights needs to watch it, then hopefully grab their convictions and grow some passion and know this is the world wide hate we're up against. But it CAN be changed, and will be changed through determination and hard work.

  23. This guy is sick. Look how he's glowing in that hate!

  24. To understand a man like this, and Tony Perkins, and all of the Christers you have to understand that they are senselessly empowered by their fanatical belief in the Bible which is a kind of spiritual steroid to them. They are incurably fixated. It doesn't matter if they have a kid who's gay and kills himself. That only means that the child was overtaken by Satan to diabolically mock God's work by posessing the child of one of God's own heros. Their mind set is crummy with superstition, filled with adolescent fantasies about purity and righteousness, doing God's work as they sit on His right hand. Their heads are full of high-sounding quotes from the Bible encouraging them to be stalwart warriors for Jesus. It's basically Mao-thought, Lenin speak, Hitler hysteria and the only way around it is to let it die of exhaustion which it has been doing for some time. No doubt it's useful to actually fight it as well.
