Gay Man Gives Emotional Speech After He and Partner are Denied Marriage License in Tennessee: VIDEO

Matt and Raymie live in Hamblen County, Tennessee. On Jan. 9th they applied for a marriage license in Morristown as part of the We Do campaign. They were turned away by a very polite clerk who was treated to a beautiful speech about what it would mean for them to be married.

  1. My husband and I wish you all the best in your efforts to achieve equality. We will celebrate our 10th anniversary of our legal marriage on June 21st of this year and 20 years together as a couple in August. We were legally married 11 days after marriage became legal in Ontario. I hope that one day you too will be able to share the joys of marriage.

  2. SARGON BIGHORN: "I BET a billion dollars that gal the clerk at the counter supports equal marriage. She is OLD AND WHITE."

So basically an archetypal Republican. Gotcha.

  4. I can't say "my husband" yet, not even if we were married. " My partner, he's my sweeheart, my guy, our better half, the one for me, I love him, he's mine"...all these work for us, but "husband" just seems too bound up in being heterosexual to us. Maybe someday though. Anybody else have this problem?

I know I'm going to catch hell.
