  1. Duncan Duncan, be proud of who you are. You're good looking (face and body) and I am sure you're a nice man. Enjoy your life.

  2. I think people need to read the Daily Mail article about the transgendered teacher who killed herself. Littlejohn is a jerk, but I think saying he denounced the teacher in terms usually reserved for child abusers is pretty far from the truth. The article starts with Littlejohn saying he completely sympathizes with transgenders, and supports having the NHS pay for the surgery, which is somewhat controversial. He also says he's fine with the teacher continuing to teach, but it should have been at another school. His main point is that she's teaching primary school kids, and they're too confused that their male teacher came back after christmas break as a female teacher. he does call her selfish, putting her needs above those of the kids, but there's really nothing in the article remotely close to what you'd say about pedophiles. In fact, I find it hard to believe that this article, which was published in December, was the reason the teacher killed herself.

  3. Brian, they're kids. They are always confused. A ten minute conversation would've been the end of that.

  4. The Daily Fail has become such hateful trash over the last several years. It used to be silly fun, but nowadays it's just vile. I don't even read it anymore.

  5. The Mississippi lesbian bullying story has me furious. An entire school district involved in bullying lgbt students! SPLC is involved to get the situation improved, but there needs to be repercussions for that teacher and principal. That should be criminal.

  8. Presidents refusing to defend laws they consider unconstitutional is hardly unprecedented. The Shrub has done it too.

  9. Liar, liar, liar. I have a good buddy from N Carolina who went to see Johnny Gill in concert years ago. He was close to the stage and literally got pulled backstage by one of Johnny's handlers and given a key to his hotel room. He went and f***ed the lights out of the man. He was given a number to call afterwards, but my buddy never did. Not interested in making a federal case out of it, but it's time for people to come clean. The stakes are higher than ever for us black homos.

  10. Priebus is an idiot. It's no wonder most people don't like them.

And JOHN, I am the father of an 8 year old boy. He and his classmates would be fine if a teacher transitioned. Kids are learning about the crazy things that happen in the world everyday. All it takes is some common-sense discussion to clarify. A great learning experience, I'd say.

  11. There is zero evidence that a cheeky article from months ago caused a suicide. Also, the article does not attack the trans teacher. It objects to her teaching young primary school kids, a position I don't agree with, but it isn't comparing her to a predator or attacking her personally or saying she shouldn't transition.

This is another case of trans activists trying to portray themselves as martyrs. The truth is that 2/3 of trans people either kill themselves or try to. These are not mentally and emotionally stable people. They have a mental disorder that can be found in the DSM IV, and they often have multiple secondary disorders that grow out of the primary disorder.

While I sympathize with them, I completely disagree with the idea that LGB people should be warping their own identities so that we can be lumped in with heterosexual sufferers of gender identity disorder. It hurts LGB kids to do this.

    Posted by: Todd | Mar 22, 2013 7:08:11 PM

  12. @Todd: actually, it isn't a disorder, it's dysphoria, per the DSM-V. And trying to say that the suicides are due to some inherent instability is the same horsecrap line of logic that clowns use to explain why LGB kids kill themselves. Being gay used to be in the DSM too, is that sufficient evidence that every time a gay person kills themselves or has a disordered personality it's because they're gay? You might want to look into that transphobia, I think it's malignant.

  13. re: David Beckham's tight trousers. This almost makes up for his inexcusable use of a butt body double previously.

    Posted by: niles | Mar 22, 2013 7:53:06 PM

  14. @Donna:

DSM V is not in effect yet. The DSM IV is. Also, even in DSM V, the various mental conditions that transfolk suffer from will continue to be represented, not just gender dysphoria but others.

Sorry, but there is a reason that homosexuality was removed 40 years ago but by contrast, transgender mental conditions remain in place and will not even be removed in 2013.

Homosexuality is not the same as transgenderism and equating the 2 is not scientific or logical.

  15. You know that famous quote by Martin Miemoller that starts out "First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist"?

Well John Boehner better watch himself because if they ever come for the Orange-American crybabies I'm just going to point and laugh.

    Posted by: Caliban | Mar 22, 2013 9:02:05 PM

  16. @Todd: they've already agreed to the new revisions. Saying that its not true because it comes out in may is like saying a law didn't pass because the newspaper comes out tomorrow. And yes, if someone has a mental disorder, regardless of whether they're trans or not, it will still be represented in the DSM, because that is what the DSM is for.

Yeah, the gay rights movement is quite a bit further along. That doesn't mean that trans people are less legitimate, in the same way that gay people are no less legitimate because slavery was outlawed in the 1800s. That leads to my next point. I'm not saying that being trans is like slavery, or being gay, or passing a law, these things are not the same. Saying that I'm "equating" the two when I use them in an example is false and disingenuous. The are similarities and differences between being gay and being trans, and there's a lot of overlap in how we deal with discrimination and society's treatment of us, but the are differences too. Being gay doesn't need a medical intervention if you're "gay enough", whereas people who experience acute gender dysphoria usually have to work with medical doctors to transition. That's another reason that the are many people who would like a non-pejorative diagnosis of transsexuality in the DSM, because it provides a basis to fight for insurance coverage of medical treatments, because there are plenty of folks who either can't or won't see that it's a medically necessary procedure.

    Posted by: Thedrdonna | Mar 22, 2013 11:16:11 PM

  17. It is March, not May. DSM IV is in effect, no matter how much you wish it wasn't. If gay marriage passes in some state but the law doesn't take effect until 2014, I don't get a license in 2013. That's how "effective dates" work. Also, DSM V only changes the labeling of trans disorders. You can call it a dysphoria, but it is still a treatable mental condition. And there are other trans-specific disorders, like Transvestic Disorder, that will remain in DSM V.

As for the overlapping issues you talk about, there's overlap b/t gays and Blacks in how they deal with discrimination. There's overlap b/t gays and women in how they deal with discrimination. We don't lump gays in with all Black people and all women.

Tell your trans activist friends to stop insisting on warping gay people into a fake LGBT identity. LGBT generates most of the hostility toward trans people from gays. I am sure there are a few who would dislike trans people anyway, but most of use would be happy to be friends and allies. But so long as you continue to attack us and try to change our identity and our name, we will fight back.

    Posted by: Todd | Mar 23, 2013 2:37:48 AM

  18. @Todd: transvestism fetishism is a paraphila, and is different in some vital ways from transsexualism. Try not to show your ignorance of the subject so much in the future.
And the whole point of the name change is that it isn't a disorder. That's why they stopped calling it a disorder. Because it isn't a disorder. Has that sunk in yet? Or will it in May? Will you suddenly be cool with that part in May? Get real, you're using it to build a case that trans people are somehow inherently flawed, and you won't be any less of a bigot in two months.
The only people who feel like trans folks are "hijacking" the movement are gay men who don't want to deal with their own discriminatory feelings, and TERFs who feel the same way. There's a reason you only hear complaints about this crap in the comments sections of Internet boards: that's the only place the trolls can still feel like they aren't vastly outnumbered. In the real world, there aren't ANY major gay rights legs who argue for a separation of LGB and T. Because most people can instinctively see how dumb and hypocritical that idea is.

    Posted by: Thedrdonna | Mar 23, 2013 2:56:39 AM

  19. Oh, and nobody's trying to steal or warp your identity. A coalition is defined as a joining of disparate elements, not a homogenization of disparate elements. You can pack that false sense of victimization away, it's misplaced and unnecessary.

    Posted by: Thedrdonna | Mar 23, 2013 2:58:15 AM

  20. Good god. Why do some of you eat the bait from trolls?

  21. Does that Duncan guy do anything other than take pictures of himself for attention?

    Posted by: Lame | Mar 23, 2013 9:54:57 AM

  22. It will be called Transvestic Disorder. I don't call it a disorder, the DSM V does. And TD is not the only disorder related to transgenderism to remain in the DSM after May. So go cry to your therapist.

If you so vastly outnumber gay and lesbian people who wish to retain their identities, you and your group of thugs wouldn't need to stalk and harass gay men and lesbians who speak out against you. Trans activists are a group of violent unstable gangsters, but your violence and homophobia won't win.

    Posted by: Todd | Mar 23, 2013 12:29:22 PM

  23. DrDonna - i think what you're seeing is that some gay men are so insecure that they're upset that transpeople are, to use heteronormative terms, More Man than they'll ever be.

Posted by: Little Kiwi | Mar 23, 2013 12:40:11 PM

  24. Hi Kiwi. I do understand that, it just buys me when people make false claims, like that transvestic paraphilias are the same as gender dysphoria, which is just flat out wrong. It's like saying people that are into BDSM are the same as people who are gay, because the gay community has an overlap. That's patently, obviously false, but that's the point I guess.
Plus, the sort of people who claim trans folks are all violent, unstable staplers are just repeating a transphobic myth created by TERFs to smear trans folk. I was on autostraddle the other day, and there was an extended conversation going on, and some clown came on and was saying how L Chat is like the only place for a "real" lesbian these days, so I went over to check it out. It was like walking into a bar in Mos Eisley. All the TERFs talking about how much they hate trans people, and even saying they should go and mess with them on AS. That's when I realized that the troglodytes who make claims like Todd were the real stalkers, following trans people around so they can crap on them. And my worry is that if I don't point out how ridiculous their claims are, someone who's new to the concept might actually make the mistake of taking them seriously. So, on with the Sisyphean task, of pointing out how wrong the trolls are.
