Texas Woman Faces Assault Charges for Bloody Beating of Gay Son with an Electrical Cord

A Forest Hill, Texas (suburb of Fort Worth) mother is facing charges of assault with bodily injury to a family member after being turned in by her son's grandmother. Erica Moore beat her son with an electrical cord after walking in on him in a sex act with another teen, CBS-DFW reports:

Foresthill“My cousin at the time he was 18. My son he was 15 and I had walked in the room on [my cousin] giving oral sex to my son and I started whooping my son, and I’m the one who got in trouble as a result of me whooping him,” she said. “When I walked in I saw my son, it was just disgusting to me, the way he was looking and my cousin was looking, and my cousin immediately ran out the door. And I’m just like what the?!? You know, is you serious? So that was my reaction because it disgusted me.”

Moore admits that she struck her son with an electrical cord because it’s a form of discipline she was taught, and because she doesn’t believe in homosexuality.

“The police department told me that it was consensual, but they was committing a homosexual act in my house and we are totally against that. So I whooped my son and about three or four months later they came and arrested me for abuse,” she recalled.

Forest Hill Police meanwhile say Moore went too far, causing bleeding and leaving marks on the boy’s thighs, forearms, hands, torso and back.

As disturbing is what she said about the police officer who came to arrest her:

Moore said that the officer who arrived told her he understood why she beat her son and that he would have gone even farther.

“Even that day when the police officer came out here, he told me out of his own mouth, ‘If it was me and I walked in on my child,’ he said, ‘parent to parent I probably would have shot him. I probably would have shot both of them.’ He said but with the law you can’t, you’re not allowed to put whoops on him. He said you can whoop him but you’re not allowed to leave any marks on him,” she said.

  1. Grandma should get custody and mom should be forced to pay child support.

  3. I think the bigger issue here is a child is having sex with an adult relative. This is called child abuse.

  4. An 18 year old and a 15 year old? In heteroville that's completely normal.

The family closeness is a somewhat weird tinge, but if they're not 'close' cousins, then less weird. I grew up in Texas, and in my fairly large circle of black friends, 'cousin' was a very loosely defined term which as often as not did NOT connote blood relations. So, I'd say we need a lot more information about this particular case.

And in any case, why didn't the woman attack the adult who was 'preying' on the child? She's more upset about homosexuality than about incest or child abuse? Misplaced priorities anyone? Pathology much?

  5. Noted philanderer Bill Cosby's parenting joke about "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out of it." stopped being funny a long time ago.

  6. No, actually, JD, that isn't the biggest issue. The biggest issue are two kids were traumatized and a 15 year old was beaten bloody by his own mother.

  7. when things like this come up in the PFLAG world, what volunteers try to get across is to be specific: what behavior are you upset by? it seems here the problem is GAY, not sexually-active.

and that cop needs to be reprimanded- STAT.

  9. racists comments from anonymous trolls are as humdrum and expected as racist bonehead tweets from ann coulter.

here's the challenge: put a face to your racist comments, folks. won't happen.

  10. Nothing racist about facts. What's racist is denying facts because they don't fit your narrative.

  11. lol, Um. Yes. It is racist when your facts have a spin darling and ignore other facts in the process.

But please go on. This is more than likely the only outlet you probably have to share these views as you wouldn't dare share with face to face with actual black people, so the internet it the ONLY outlet for YOUR narrative.

It's cute though. Mwahahahha! Crazy Scary Anti-Gay Negroooooooeeesss!!!! *ignores crazy scary people of other ethnic groups and countries doing similar atrocities*

They will beat us all with extension chords and talk in jive if they had their chances!

  13. Let's see what we have here: a mother of the year award, a dysfunctional family of the year award, a police officer of the year award and an educational system of the year award. Right.

They should be able to get a reality TV show for themselves by next week.

  15. this is scary on so many levels.......that being gay is looked upon so negatively that someone should get a beating and worse the cop stating "he would have shot them both".......and right wingers wonder why there has to be laws to protect GBLTs.....wonder no more

  16. Actually, an 18 year old having sex with a 15 year old *is* statutory rape in Texas. The age of consent here is 17, or 2 years apart--meaning a 15 y.o and a 16 y.o. could have consensual sex, but not a 15 y.o. and a 17 y.o.--certainly not a 15 & 18 y.o.

Now, the fact that she "whooped" her son when (*technically*) he was being raped by her cousin shows she has some seriously f**ked up priorities. That cop was waaaaaaaaay out of line.

But then, it is the DFW area. We (in Houston) don't really like them (and vice versa LOL)

  17. Cowardly racist commenters trolling with racially slanted remarks in cyber space dismissed. Find a life. Trolling Internet news blogs for attention, in between masturbating to Internet porn, has got to get boring after a while, aye?

  18. Stupid gay b1tches bring us all down when you won't admit the obvious:

Black culture in general is every bit as bigoted and homophobic toward gays and lesbians as Texas culture in particular.

If your head is too far up your culo (or someone else's) to admit this, you lose credibility, lose the moral high ground, and lose the ability to be critical of the larger society in general for its homophobia.

This is truth, and the first step to addressing the problem is recognizing it.

  19. I suppose it's racist to infer from Erica Moore's diction and grammar that she's Black.

  20. The thing that really gets up Kiwi's a$$ is that knows that it's true, but he himself is too cowardly too admit the truth. Even with his big impressive (not!) website.

  21. "Cue outrageous personal attack form Derrick in Philly in 5, 4, 3, 2....."

It's Derrick FROM Philly, b.tch. Oh, don't take "b.tch" personally, you hea'?

The mother ought to be strangled with an electrical cord along with "DEMO GRAPHIC".

  22. Given the predominance of African Americans in city government, it's a fairly safe bet that the police officer who allegedly spoke with Erica Moore was African-American as well.

  23. I am a parent of three and do not believe in homosexuality. I can not see anything wrong with hating the act of homosexuals, but not the individual. It will have definitely broke my heart to see my child in the act with the same sex. But we all have our own beliefs and we all should respect that. I think the parent went to far, I know my mother probably would have reacted the same way, but it doesn't make it right. And as for the police officer, he should have kept his feelings on the matter to himself, that kind of behavior only incites more bad behavior. In the end GOD has the last say and until then we all should have respect for our fellow man and their beliefs.

  24. It's terrible that this kid got beaten and what stands out is that his mother talks like a fieldhand in Gone Wit The Mfukkin Wind.

  25. The 18 year old appears to be the mother's first cousin, not the 15 year old's first cousin. Not that it matters. Cousin marriage was fairly common until the early 20th century when scientists thought that they knew something about genetics. As it turns out, the reproductive considerations of first cousin marriage are not serious, not that it matters a great deal in this situation.
