The Bombing's 8-Year-Old Victim

Martin

WHDH reports on the first named victim in the Boston attack, 8-year-old Martin Richard.

Martin was there to watch his father race. His mother and sister were critically injured and remain in the hospital. Two others died in the blast. Their names have not been released.

Hundreds of injured others have had their lives changed forever in the attacks. Our thoughts go out to all of them.

  1. That poor family. What that father must be going through is impossible to comprehend.

  2. I live around the corner from this family. The fact that someone would harm such good hearted family is beyond my understanding.

  4. And today Americans are handing over cash to Muslims in corner stores as if nothing had happened.

And today the hippies on NPR, Democracy Now, Democratic Underground, WMNF, and Creative Loafing are scrambling to explain this away. Why, oh why hasn't our stupidity and acceptance of these people stopped this from happening? We need stronger gun laws, that's the ticket!

Idiots! These people have told us repeatedly what their objective is. They intend to attack, immigrate, and subsume the West for flucking Allah.

    Let's build a friendship mosque.

  5. The father was not racing, they were there to support other runner friends.

  6. @David Hearne
An Islamist group would have claimed credit by now. That's how religious-extremism works. When 9/11 happened and the embassy bombing, their PR was in full-throttle.

This is going to turn out to be some Tea Partier or Timothy McVeigh wannabe. Or maybe it's you, David Hearne. Or people like you trying to demonize all Arab Americans.

  7. David Herne: Racist much? There is NOTHING to indicate that this is coming from the Muslim community. The police are questioning a Saudi who was running from the explosion... EVERYONE was running from the explosion!

Oklahoma City was the same way: immediately blaming Muslims and it was an American who did it. Happened in Atlanta, too.

Let's wait until it there is some evidence before we start hanging people.

  9. Unruly - You are an idiot. A tea partier? Are you serious?

    There are no Muslim Americans.

  13. Based on what, Moz? Timothy McVeigh bombed a government facility. He himself said that he didn't know there was a daycare on the premises and that he wouldn't have done it had he known. How does that compare to the Islamic terrorism around the world? How does that compare to the Arabs firing rockets into Israel? How does that compare to IED going off in India and killing farmers?

  15. All of the terrorism in the last year has been domestic. American. White. Mail.

  16. *male

    Excuse me.

  17. Stop feeding the trolls. Don't engage. Why bother? Racist bigots will think what they want. It's just a shame an innocent child who probably never conceived of someone being different because of their religion or skin tone died and yet people like David Hearne live on to pollute us with his nonsense.

  18. Unthinkable tragedies like this one remind us to treasure every single day because we never know what the future may bring. As one of my high school teachers used to say, "Life can change in an instant." She was very right.

  19. Mikey - A white lunatic shooting up a school or a thousand black thugs shooting up the ghetto, these things are not terrorism. They are murders.

  20. I'm a self-loathing, racist bigot, but I'd still suck uncut Muslim c0ck.

  21. If this was Islamist extremists, they would have been suicide bombers.

This was the work of anti-government kooks.

  22. So sorry for this family and all the families involved.

  23. David, Timothy McVeigh parked the truck in front of the Murray building. The daycare was front an center of the building and children could be seen thru the windows daily. He knew. He was a terrorist. Why would you believe anything he said? You would actually give him credence? As for there not being Muslim Americans, there are millions. Where do you get your incorrect information from? Extremists thru out history from both Christianity, Islamic and other faiths have always used those religions as an excuse to murder and cause mayhem to achieve their goals. During the time of the trouble between Ireland and England their recent history there were plenty of terrorists attacks an bombings. All by people who proclaimed to be of Christian faiths for the most part. The world isn't limited to terrorists who happen to be Muslims. One of the previous posters is right, history shows that by now if this was a bombing by Islamic extremists, they would have declared their responsibility to the world.

  24. The poor kid. His dad must be beyond himself with grief.

I was in the area less than 1/2 hr after the bombing. Everybody was well composed and calm. Police were professional and calm. I don't think I've ever seen so many police, armed national guard in full camo, Federal, in Boston like I have last evening and today. I only hope this doesn't end up making daily life more difficult than it already is.

People should be careful before jumping to any conclusion. This could have been done by anybody. It could have been somebody with a grudge against the marathon, the city, a disgruntled fired employee, who knows. Anything is possible.

  25. There are millions of American Muslims praying for the Boston dead, the injured, and yes also that the responsible group hasn't an Islamic Terrorist connection. They only add the last prayer because they know that ignorant haters will condemn an entire group for the actions of the few, and we in the LBGT community know what that can be like.
