  1. Andy, did you even look at who wrote the Louis CK piece or - more importantly - view the clip?

  2. Anyone who has watched any Louis CK will see that he uses that voice for EVERY type of person. Not specifically/only gay people.

  3. Bisbee should just the whole thing off the table. It's gone from a valiant attempt at fairness to an insult.

  4. I'm pretty sure I could have gone through life without ever reading the words "pubic hair-covered razor."

  5. See that doesn't really matter though. If you say the F-word for any reason you are a bigot. Comparing gays to pedophiles should carry the same weight. So Louis CK is an anti gay bigot, deep down, obviously right?

  6. I am gay and not one bit offended by the C.K.'s joke about the fountain. Stop being so hyper-sensitive and enough with the suffocating political-correctness environment that the media is creating. Louis C.K. is an ally of equality for LGBTs.

  7. Louis C.K. will tell outrageous jokes about everyone except Jews. His comedy is about looking down at people.

  8. Louis CK is winning all kinds of friends this week. What a loser.

  9. I highly recommend "The Place Beyond The Pines" it's one of the best recent American movies- yes the Gosling looks hot even with that hideous body art but so does Bradley Cooper as rookie cop.

  10. Can I unsee that ugly pic of the war criminal and the heirs to that bloodied oil ka-ching?

  11. Louis C.K. was making fun of fountain statues, not gay people. The naked boy pissing has always bothered me too. Why is that the go-to fountain decoration?

  12. I seriously question the need to put Louis C.K. on the news brief and make an issue of a solid liberal and ally of equality. I'm pretty sure he attacked some other groups in his comedy, I mean I haven't heard it yet but fairly certain he did, so do we plan on calling him out for that? Seriously can we put the big girl panties on here and walk away from this please?!

  13. @ Louis CK... I don't hear 'gay' in the voice. I think it's supposed to sound like a crazy person aroused by the idea of pedophilia.

Not particularly humor-worthy, but not a gay portrayal. Save the outrage for the outrageous.

  14. WTF? I saw the special, and Louis CK was NOT being homophobic. In fact, toward the end of the show when Louis was talking about how great it was to be alive because you get to have sex, he not only singled out how great it is for straight men and women, he also included a reference to how great it is for gay guys to have sex with their boyfriends-- it was graphic and funny but it was also weirdly inclusive. This is the guy who made a point on his show to dissect the hurt the word "faggot" can cause when comedians use it on stage. There's plenty of real homophobia out there without parsing the work of our allies desperately trying to find some.

  15. I watched the Louis CK special, and it was not homophobic. He even said prior to this joke that the voice was not a gay voice. The fact you linked to a right-wing blog and then take their suggestive headline and turn it into a definitive statement is disappointing.

  18. I loved Duncan Hosie's op-ed piece, thanks for linking to it. He communicated beautifully why language is important. I greatly admire Duncan standing up to Scalia, who came across as a bully in that academic confrontation (I was reminded of Santorum bullying the college girl) and then again in the Prop8 and DOMA orals.

Compared to the incoherent-but-pretty Matt Salmon, it's clear why Duncan's at an Ivy and Matt's at the top-ranked party school in the nation (but of course, as a Mormon, Matt doesn't party). Let's have more Hosie and less Salmon!

  19. Alright, I'll defend Louis CK. He's incredibly pro-gay and pro-equality. That's his standard go-to voice for anyone he's making fun of. It could be a mother on the playground, or a sorority girl, or someone who cut him off in traffic.

    Posted by: Dave | Apr 15, 2013 10:29:48 PM

  20. It's well known the bigots use Luis C.K. clips to defend using hate speech, so it is no surprise that he is saying more bigot crap.

  22. "It's well known the bigots use Luis C.K. clips to defend using hate speech, so it is no surprise that he is saying more bigot crap."

Did anyone else notice this commenter's username is "Yaoi?" Perhaps he or she is more annoyed that it's a "pedophile voice" than the possibility it's a "stereotypical gay voice." Which, by the way, it isn't. It's pretty much the only voice Louis can do.

  23. I'm really beginning to question Andy's & this sites motives. To let that first line stay (Louis C.K. suggests gays are pedophiles in HBO special), when it's very clear that's not the case at all if you've watched the clip, read the garbage, right wing piece AND read the comments as well. Even the commenters over there knows what's going on!

    Andy, PLEASE wake up!

    Posted by: Niebuhr | Apr 16, 2013 7:17:17 AM

  24. Louie CK was suggesting that only a pedophile would want to make a statue of a little boy peeing. It was humorous, not offensive. He's not all that funny anyway, IMO. Let it go.
