Beyonce's New Single 'Grown Woman' — LISTEN

Beyoncé's new single has hit the web.

Slate writes:

The first thing you’ll notice is the piped-in crowd noise—which is probably unnecessary for someone whose hair appears to blow on its own—but soon the beat drops in, reportedly courtesy of Timbaland. It certainly sounds like his work, complete with the kind of a-cappella-style vocal percussion that’s all over his collaborations with Justin Timberlake, which it mashes up with an island rhythm that falls somewhere between sped-up reggaeton and a vogue beat. The song was reportedly written by The-Dream, and—though it features none of his signature repetitions of “ay ay” or “radio killa”—it’s certainly up to his usual high standard.

  1. Great beat and everything, but it's missing that big "moment". It just keeps going and then ends. No wonder they haven't released it, it wouldn't sell in the US.

  2. My ears are bleeding. That was pretty terrible.

  3. yah, definitely not her best effort.

  4. Agreed, it is not her best. But it's not horrible. This is also a remix, so I would like to hear the actual song without the added beats.

  6. Don't know what you're talking about. This song is great! The Afro-inspired infusion gave it a unique kick.

  7. It's ok, but what's up with the 2 minute repetitive outro? Bored.

  8. relatively catchy but not spectacular. it'll sell just bc its beyonce but its not particularly edgy...and the lyrics are kind of bland.

  9. How many damn songs does she have to have about being a woman?

  10. G/D that is some crappy "music". Beyonce needs to STFU and go home and take care of her baby!!!!!!! Tired.

  11. It's her Pepsi jingle.

  12. Idk...its not bad...but its not exactly her greatest. She says she is looking fir that nostalgic "Single Ladies" vibe but this wasn't the best way to go. She would have been better off completing Standing On The Sun than this. Idk...I'm on the fence but hopefully this isn't the final version

  14. This cover reminds me of something Santigold did a while bad. Boy, Beyonce sure does take a lot of "inspiration" from other artists a lot...

  15. Aside from the rambling last two minutes, I think it's great. A throw back more to Get Me Bodied—lots of build up without a payoff, per se, but plenty of upbeat excitement.

  16. Let us face it guys and gals, this song sounds like RUBBISH!

    Posted by: BRAINS | May 21, 2013 8:30:38 PM

  17. Agreed. Pretty dull. No hooks whatsoever and she can work with anyone she wants producer-wise. I thought her last album not quite measuring up and its comparative chart performance would have shaken her up, but I guess not.

  18. I just don't see what the mass appeal is of Beyonce. She is amazingly talented, I'll give her that. But her music is absolutely terrible!
