Obama Says He'll Address Climate Change in Major Speech: VIDEO

Lake

In a major speech at Georgetown University on Tuesday, President Obama says he'll unveil a sweeping plan to address the growing threat of climate change, Reuters reports:

Climate_obama"In his video message, Obama outlined what would be a major national effort to address climate change. He said scientists will be needed to design new fuels, farmers to grow them, engineers to devise new sources of energy and workers to build the foundation for a clean energy economy.

"There's no single step that can reverse the effects of climate change. But when it comes to the world we leave our children, we owe it to them to do what we can," he said.

Sources familiar with his plans have said Obama is likely to roll out a number of measures on climate policy. They may include a strategy to limit greenhouse gas emissions from existing power plants, which account for roughly 40 percent of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions.

  1. Oh look - another distraction (climate change) to divert attention away from Obama's spying on the American people.

  2. It's about time Obama addressed climate change. I think he's doing a solid job on LGBT rights, he gave it his all on health care, and he half-heartedly tried gun control. But he's been mostly silent on the environment.

  3. Caught in a Lie
Science has NEVER said any climate change crisis was as real as the scientists love to say comet hits are so why don't the scientists end this costly debate and just say it then? The scientists have doomed children as well don't they? The scientists didn't lie, you goose stepping believers and pandering politicians and lazy copy and paste main-scream media lied and who said it was a crime science to say "maybe" a crisis as not one scientific paper in 28 years has ever said a crisis was inevitable or eventual or unavoidable (like their comet hits) and every single IPCC warning is swimming in "maybes". The only crisis you remaining Reefer Madness clowns of climate blame belief have to worry about is how your grandkids will explain to their kids how at just the grunt of a headline you so easily and with such sickening childish glee condemned your own children to the greenhouse gas ovens of YOUR exaggerated CO2 climate crisis. Uttering CO2 death threats to billions of helpless children and putting them through 28 years of needless CO2 panic will be considered a WAR crime.
    And get up to date:
*Occupywallstreet now does not even mention CO2 in its list of demands because of the bank-funded and corporate run carbon trading stock markets ruled by politicians.
*Canada killed Y2Kyoto with a freely elected climate change denying prime minister and nobody cared, especially the millions of scientists warning us of unstoppable warming (a comet hit).
*Julian Assange is of course a climate change denier.
*Obama had not mentioned the crisis in two State of the Unions addresses.

  4. Looking forward to hear what President Obama has to say and his plans. First and foremost I hope he decides against Keystone. Most of the oil will go to China, as the US doesn't need it, but if Canada wants to go ahead, it will be their bad decision to make. If anyone does not believe in climate change, you may wish to check with both the Pentagon and CIA, who both see climate change as a security threat to the US.

  5. I think the number of crazies on this site has now passed the number of sane people.

    Why bother anymore?
