UFC Fighter Josh Thomson: Gay Marriage Leads to Polygamy, Pedophilia, and Incest

UFC fighter Josh Thomson says "I don't care" about gay marriage but he sure does have a lot of opinions about it.

5th Round reports: Thomson

Thomson sparked a heated debate by posting this question on his Facebook page: “Should you be allowed to marry whoever you want? Before you answer that, should u be allowed to have more than 1 wife?”

Not too big of a deal, but things got really testy when Thomson responded to a friend who asked “Should you be allowed to decide what other sound-minded adults do with their lives?”

“I’m only asking a question,” Thomson countered. “My next question is, should siblings be allowed to marry siblings? My point is, where do you draw the line? I personally don’t care who you marry but I also am smart enough to know that it opens a gateway to men/women trying to marry young kids, siblings marrying each other and people having multiple husbands an wives. You have to think all of these things are okay otherwise your stopping them from being happy as well which is hypocrisy. Equality doesn’t stop with gay marriage, it just starts with it.

“I’m not against gay marriage, I’m also not for it. I don’t care! I do care what it may lead to In the future once you change the definition of marriage for gay marriage. You can’t say that it doesn’t open the door way for other topics like I mentioned. I know it sounds crazy but people will bring these types of issues to the table once the definition is changed.”

  1. And UFC fighting leads to brain injury; just sayin'.

  2. Whenever someone says, "I'm only asking a question," you can be certain that they're lying.

They aren't interested in the answer. They already think they know it. They won't listen to any actual response because they aren't asking a question. They're preaching.

  3. So funny to see anti-gay trash from a guy who spends his life by rolling around on the floor with half-naked sweaty men.

He'll end up in gay porn.

  5. QUOTE: "You can’t say that it doesn’t open the door way for other topics like I mentioned."

The same could be said for adopting a strictly 'biblical' definition of marriage. The bible suggests incest is okay (Cain & ?, Abraham & Sara, ... ), it suggests polygamy is okay (Lamech & wives, Abraham & wives). And marriage to non-humans? God's not human, and priests/nuns "marry" him anyway.

So, seriously, pull your ignorant head out of your ass. Allowing the government to ignore the gender of a person's chosen spouse does NOT "open the door" to any of that offensively ridiculous crap that >REAL< traditional marriage allows for.

  7. This whole thing reads like an Onion piece:

Unknown athlete from unrecognized sport shouts contradictory and confusing statements in the wilderness.

  8. People bring those things to the table now.

  10. Polygamy should already be legalized, and what consenting adults do is nobody's business (ie incest between consenting adults should be legalized). What's his point?

  11. @Jexer, on the contrary, it does open the door. It opens the door to questioning why the taboos exist in the first place. If there's no good constitutional reason for the taboo to exist, then there's a problem.

I understand why gays would want to say 'but we're different' -- but gays aren't.

  12. @Isaac, actually sure it does. Remember how affluent white gays have grasped the phrase 'how dare you!??!' like a lifeline when dealing with blacks who are anti-gay?

    Well: ta-da.

  13. Virginia made the same arguments before the Supreme Court in 1967 when it (unsuccessfully) defended its laws banning interracial marriage.

Posted by: Jim Hopkins | Jun 13, 2013 7:25:48 PM

  14. Correct, Jim Hopkins. The stupid arguments remain the same and remain stupid all these years later.

As for opening doors, go ahead. Those who want to make the case for polygamy, pedophilia, incest or whatever--make it. It has no particular bearing on gay rights or gay people, and is only of interest to people who either support or want to reject these things. The idiocy is seeing any of it as a gay issue more than a straight issue when it's really not an issue at all.

  17. Not a single comment calling out the homophobia of, or generalizing, WHITE PEOPLE as a reaction to what this one white man said. Funny how when it's Adrian Peterson or Chris Culliver making statements similar to this, the gaycists come out of the woodwork and Towleroad becomes the Klu Klux Klan.

  19. Hey meathead, keep the pie hole shut, and we will never know how idiotic you truly are...open it, and remove all doubt. Why should I even care what some phony wrestler meathead "thinks" (I am being quite liberal in using the word "think") Go drag your knuckles back to your corner and wait for another round of fake wrestling. Oh, we don't care what you think. You are mere eye candy, and not even that good. It must suck being so stupid.

  20. Josh Thomson is an idiot using the best convoluted logic a subscription to WorldNetDaily can buy. Queer rights will advance irrespective of his "arguments"...tho the promotional organization he works for is protective of Queer rights, and may fine or fire him if he goes too far...

Mixed Martial Arts is the hottest and coolest sport in existence, irrespective of what a bunch of indignant, quivering nerds have to say online. it is, incidentally, far less prone to head and brain injury than boxing, football or soccer...because it is a highly regulated sport.

    beautiful truths, all.

  21. @Chance, you know the reason why.

  22. Someone should point out that gay marriage has been legal for 7 yrs in SA, 8 yrs in Canada,10 yrs in Belgium, 12 in the Netherlands, etc and not once, NOT ONCE, have these issues he speaks of been raised. But then again why would we expect him to use his brain. It's a slurpee by now.

    @ Chance, was that rhetorical?

  23. 1- Children can never enter into any contract consensually or as a free agent. This is why children under the age of 18 can't buy or sell houses or engage in any contract without a guardian's consent. In our society we have determined that 18 is the age where a minor becomes an adult and can enter contracts.

2- Animals can never enter into any contract. An animal is unable to give any consent. An animal can not agree to sexual relations with a human being.

3- Polygamy is not a orientation as being gay or straight is. Polygamy is a fetish. No one ever grows up thinking " I just don't fit in with all of my friends, because I want 12 wives". Polygamy is a lifestyle choice, and it's insulting to compare it to something that is natural and occurs within higher primates: homosexuality.
