RoadNew report advises French health minister to end ban on gay men giving blood: "Socialist MP Olivier Véran, the author of the potentially divisive report, says it is time to end discrimination when it comes to blood donors. Veran, who is also a doctor, has recommended that the lifetime ban on homosexual male donors that was put in place in 1983 because of fears over the spread of AIDS, should now be lifted. Rather than focus on the sexuality of the donor, the report suggests the emphasis should be on the individual risk of each donor, whether heterosexual or homosexual, in terms of whether or not their blood could be contaminated."

  1. Zaha Hadid's new building looks great. Yay! Another nail in the coffin for the middle class in Manhattan! Bloomberg is mighty happy today! Woo hoo!

  2. Gay blood donors ban doens't make any sense right now. I understand that kind of laws in the 80's with all AIDS fear back then, but now there's no reason to keep something like that.
In Spain it's always the individual risk what they have in consideration. If you have risks of having some diseases you can't donate, and the blood is tested anyway. But when they ask you if you have risked sexual practises they include heteroseual and homosexual practises, not only gay ones (You can get a lot of sexual transmision ilness with straight sex too)

  3. I can't shed any tears for THomas Peters.
He and NOM have caused too much heartbreak for that.

  4. Thomas Peters was injured in a swimming accident, not an auto accident.

    Posted by: RainbowPhoenix | Jul 17, 2013 4:50:51 PM

  5. maybe this brush with death will inspire Peters to do something GOOD with his life, and make him realize that since life is fleeting, and time on earth can end at any moment, it might be best to make the world a better place for everyone, not worse for the people you were raised to hate.

    unlikely, though.

  6. Crist!
Ray, (littlekiwi) is back! His absence throughout the past several posts had made this site enjoyable again. Nothing good ever lasts!

  7. Fratmen and Frat Pad are different porn sites. Dustin Zito took it up the ass in front of the camera for all the world to see on Frat Pad.

  8. You could always just go away, John. Bet that would improve the site for far more people.

  10. AdamK, do you have a problem with men taking it up the ass? Because if so, you may be in the wrong place.

    Posted by: Cal | Jul 17, 2013 5:36:40 PM

  11. 1) having anal sex with another man doesn't make you gay. We need to stop pigeonholing sexuality
    2) stop posting about WBC you are adding fuel to the fire.

  12. Weird. Early reports about Thomas Peters' accident said it was an automobile accident but his father said he broke his 5th cervical vertebra (at the base of the neck) in a swimming accident.

Make no mistake, I do not like Thomas Peters at all. He's a Catholic reationary, heavily involved in fighting against gay rights, gay marriage in particular. He's been arrogant and malicious, displaying hubris in the extreme.

But I'm not going to celebrate his misfortune or wish him ill. He's only 27 years old, hopefully with a long life ahead of him, and perhaps this incident will give him time to reflect on how fragile life is and what a waste it is to spend that time fighting against the rights and happiness of others.

  13. Thomas Peters injured in:

    a) auto accident

    b)swimming accident

    c)sexual experimentation

    d) a & c

    e) b & c

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving p.rick.

  14. AdamK - Kind of a technicality, since DZ was at FratmenTV ("Spencer"), and both that and Fratpad are under the Fratmen umbrella (both owned/produced by ICONnewmedia).

  17. I wouldn't wish the kind of accident Thomas Peters has suffered on anyone; but I might wish that sometime during his recovery, he happens to encounter some kind, compassionate, talented - and gay - doctor, nurse, health aide, physical therapist, etc. who becomes important to his recovery and leads him to some kind epiphany where his bigotry is concerned.

  18. Thomas Peters. What goes around comes around. Sorry that I can't drum up any empathy.

    Posted by: John | Jul 18, 2013 10:56:48 AM

  19. As "communications director" for NOM he is directly responsible for inciting violence and death against innocent humans. He deserves as much suffering as he causes in the world. Hopefully it will open his close, hateful mind? Time will tell.
GAWD works in myterious ways! :) Perhaps it's a 'sign' that GAWD wants the haters to STFU already?
