Watch a Brooklyn Artist's Intimate 84-Minute Gay Kiss: VIDEO

Kiss

Brooklyn-based artist Idan Bitton writes us:

I recently posted one of my videos on YouTube. The video features a kiss between me and a fellow male artist. As the video started becoming popular, and surprisingly inspiring to viewers, it got flagged and age restricted on YouTube while other "straight" kissing videos are not. Some of them even have titles such as "How to Kiss Dirty" and such.

I wanted to bring this to your attention in the hopes of raising the awareness to this issue with the help of Towleroad.

Adds Bitton on YouTube:

First Kiss is a 84 minute kiss video between the artists Idan Bitton and Alfredo Calle Ferran. While the camera is still, the kiss is in motion provoking the viewer to stay and watch. Idan and Alfredo do not interact with the viewer, but offer a peek into their intimate moments of commitment. This long lasting, present and unapologetic kiss defines our current gay rights momentum. We are here, we love each other, and this is what it looks like.

  2. The chi.......ldren, the chi.......ldren... congratulations Youtube, you're now as ridiculous as the MPAA. The must be a rule that kissing longer than 20 minutes is overtly sexual or some such nonsense. No doubt just some prude decided they didn't like to see men kissing. Why don't we just start screaming at youtube about making Pat Robinson clips where he talks about God vomiting about gays age restricted? That is hate speech... Can you imagine Fox News... now that would be hilarious... 'how dare they age restriction the word of God'....

  3. Beautiful in every way but the censorship.

  4. Oh god, what's next. No, don't think about it. Who has 90 minutes to waste?

  5. I've watched all 84:25 of it. What the hell got this age-restricted if not, pure and simple, homophobia.

Bet those two never kiss again, though.

  6. If you want to share your feelings with YouTube about the improper restriction, there's a "send feedback" option on the YouTube page for the video. I most certainly did.

  7. Is the follow-up video called "Blue Balls"?

  9. Never kissed a guy with a beard. This makes it look incredibly fun. Would love to feel what it's like.

  10. You know, I have to say, that as much as I have enjoyed kissing men over the years, it still grosses me out a little to see two men kissing.

    It shouldn't, but it does.

There must be some profound significance in that.

  11. It was easier to watch than watching my mother kiss my stepfather I'll say that. I find it hard to watch people be physically intimate unless they are so compelled that the fact that others may be watching doesn't occur to them.

  12. Art imitating life, lol. The fact that this got an age restriction while every insane clown posse video is free to be seen by people of all ages stinks to high heaven of homophobia.

  13. Chap-stik anyone?

  14. I'm confused - are these guys in a committed relationship ("offer a peek into their intimate moments of commitment"); in which case how can it be a "First Kiss?" Or are they just two artists who are making a film/statement?

  15. Gay kiss? Can we just call if a kiss?

  16. 84 minutes is a tad long. I'm not sure of the point of that. There are plenty of gay kiss videos on YT that are not age restricted. The problem is that viewers will flag a video they don't like, then a moderator on YT will decide how to respond and it's up to the taste of the moderator. The more a video gets flagged the more likely the video will be reviewed. I don't know if there is an appeal process. I think you can flag your own videos too when you upload them.

  17. WOW! That's better than any porn I've ever seen.

  18. Is there a point to the video?

  19. Not really into PDAs, but I watched a bit and got a little bored. It seemed very much like a how-to-guide...or a Science-channel Special.
I'd much rather "do" than "watch", I guess.

  20. That is the sexiest thing I've seen in a long time.

  21. Ugh. Hot idea, but not attractive men. I can practically hear flies buzzing around the room. In the eye of the beholder and all that.

  22. My mind started to wander after the first 30 seconds. Was anyone actually interested enough to watch it all the way through? Babies are cute laughing, but who wants to watch an hour and a half of babies laughing?

  23. Are people supposed to keep this on in the backround for atmosphere -- kind of like a televised holiday Yule log?

    Posted by: will | Aug 3, 2013 3:58:04 PM

  24. I DONT GET IT

  25. I think it's beautiful.
