Pro-Gay Rights Message Posted By Anglican Minister Goes Viral

Last week, an Anglican minister in Gosford, Australia posted an image in support of LGBT people to his parrish's Facebook that quickly went viral. The image showed the Church's sign board with the message: "Dear Christians, Some people are gay. Get over it. Love, God." The Daily Telegraph reports that, "within 24 hours, the post had more than 100,000 hits, 1000 shares and 3000 likes." As of today it has received 7,184 likes and 3,701 shares. Father Rod Bower was "overwhelmed" by the response he received to the post:

"I have had a number of phone calls and ran into people who have
said, 'Good on you this is really great'… I think it
shows that it's an important issue and that a lot of people have spiritual questions that are not being met by traditional forms of Christianity."

Father Bower said he put the sign up to tell the wider community there was more than one way to approach gay rights.

conservative view is not the only view," he said. "Marriage equality is
a hot issue at the moment and it seems the church is struggling to get
over this issue. I am reflecting on what the spirit of God might be saying in a modern world."

This reminds me of one of the best scenes ever from TV’s Supernatural. A Westboro-type preacher is at the pulpit doing the anti-gay thing. Then, God walks in and says:

“You’re wrong. I am utterly indifferent to sexual orientation. On the other hand, I can not abide hypocrites like you, Reverend.”

Then things get ugly for the preacher.

The push to divide the church and GLBT people doesn’t come from all churches, as shown above. But the ones that do push for a division are not operating from a Christian standpoint. They are sometimes misguided or sometimes blatantly anti-gay.

You have to realize that church is a business and sometimes they belive in frightening the attendees into donations. If you don’t help the church (through donations) then (the others) will get a strondhold on your lives and diminish them by (whatever works to get the most money). All you have to do is watch televangelists on the television. You don’t think their business model is based on fear? They use fear to rake in the dough. I do believe those participating in division of society through church will eventually have to answer to their higher power. Isn’t using the name of God to promote your own self interest really the definition of taking God’s name in vain (covenant breaking) and also using God’s name as part of a figurative spell to cast on the donors.

    Hey Mr. Bower
“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”
    This is from God!
